Can't get ENB series to work

AncientNordicSpoon

Question

Hello there,

I am triying to increase my skyrim performance (and if just a little bit possible also quality), however i am nowhere near skilled, most of the "tweaks" comes from partialy understood guides and experimenting.

so far i am trying to use mostly step recommended settings an trying out what works, what does not.

i ve run into problem with enb series (used latest 305, copied everything in wrapper version to Skyrim folder), if i use d3d9.dll file from there, loading is incredibly slowly, fps is terrible (even for my poor calculator) and game is stuttering, freezing, etc.

but when i used d3d9.dll file just from antifreeze patch, the most i managed to get was around 50 fps in open world, little stuttering when loading more objects, new grids, sometimes its less but rarely went below 25-30, even when fighting and travelling, and up to a limit of 120fps in buildings (in very small rooms),

however i'd like to actually have something that can be called textures :(

playing with settings in ini files didnt help, using both d3d9 files didnt help.

i didnt install any enbseries preset yet, wanted to try how it goes on its own ( is that it?)

-using memory patch

i know there is a lot of missing specifications (ini files, mods, logs, screenshot, etc) i plan to add everything later, work won't wait.

for now i just want to ask if its in my settings and wrong installations, or if it's just not meant to be possible with my hardware - https://wiki.step-project.com/User:AncientNordicSpoon/SystemSpecs

thanks beforehend for any help

Yes, both are zero, i checked recommended and wrong settings, i could turn on smth harmful thought.

-Enb CTD and antifreeze patch, its only skyrim patch at enb website and i noticed it helps.

As i said i am gonna write down full list of specs, ini files and installed **** later (5-6 hours),

For now i am interested if my hardware is incompatible with enb binaries or the fact that i had just them without any preset is the issue?

That AnitiFREEZE Patch was from 2011. I don't see any reason to use it.

You're system specs are really too low to be running an ENB Preset.

well, thats kinda expected, ty for showing up by the way.

i spent last 4 hours ( mostly because of loading time) playing with these enb files and settings.

i was testing changes in new game, gameplay was somehow similar to before, stability seemed even better, BUT loading screen - be it game start after bethseda logo, loading saved game or entering building) , took incredible time (around 6-7 mins), and some events didnt start when they should ( waited for alduin to break into tower 5 mins).

however when i replace d3d9.dll file from enb binaries with same file from enb antifreeze patch, game loads fine, menu appears pretty much imedietly after bethseda logo, saved game and entering structure loading takes max. 20 seconds, usually just 2-10, gameplay performance is better than when using .dll from binaries.

can anyone explain that to me please?

i am gonna try some .dll files from older binaries, i was using only version 305

Some users have reported similar on the ENBSeries forums, but Boris usually just tells them it's on their end not his. In your case, you should only be running ENBoost and not a Preset. Be sure you're copying the .dll and the enhost.exe from each of the versions. They should always be used together from version to version. Don't mix and match. Also be sure you have installed the DX9 runtimes and that your enblocal.ini is set up correctly.
