Closest-to-Vanilla Weather Mods?

Fantomax

Question

Yeah, I know it sounds stupid... But, I'm just curious.

I've played Skyrim for about 2 Years. What I hate the most from vanilla is simply the weather, vanilla weather are HORRIBLE imo. I've tried to search the net for weather mods but, none of them close to vanilla (since my favorite ENB is vanilla-weather). Is there any weather mod that tweaks the vanilla weather just a bit and with easy installation (not 99999 patch and incompactibility)?

Sorry if this question has been asked already in the past.

It really depends on what you want. Im going to ignore the vanilla-like requirement as it could be changed and I am going off memory with these.

If you want good color then Pure Weathers(edited vanilla weathers)

If you want realistic-ish then Natural Lighting and Atmospherics(edited vanilla weathers)

If you want rainy/cold weathers then Climates Of Tamriel(adds weathers)
If you want a mix of PW and COT then Vivid Weathers(adds weathers)
If you like the idea of NLA and VW without adding weathers then Natural Lighting Vivid Atmospherics(edited vanilla weathers)

My choice would be NVLA for standalone and low patching(I think only AOS)

When it comes to ENB, NVLA shouldnt be too bad on performance if you disable the heavy hitters but ENB is required for the snow.

VW snow can be heavy on weak systems.

@Tech : I've seen that, but from what I read on the description, it only tweaks fog-snow-storm weather (which is pretty much everywhere in Nexus). Thanks anyway.

@hishutup : Thanks, I've tried 'em all in the past. Right now, I'm sticking out with VW as it is the closest YET. I used to be a huge fan ELE-Weather (discontinued?) and RCRN. But RCRN is way too complex for me (imo) with the incompactibillities. The close-to-vanilla criteria is caused by the current ENB I'm using (Kountervibe Northern and True Vision, can't wait for SOS Remastered though). I'll try NLVA later. Anyway, have you tried ELFX Weather? (idk, it's glitchy in my rig dunno why)

I really wonder if STEP could have a weather mod in the future... Might be a good idea if it just ELE-Weather like mods.

(edit : Well crap, This means regenerate DynDOLOD)

I have Vivid Weathers installed personally. I think it's over saturated in some weather's (using without ENB atm), but I like the variety (500+ weathers) it adds.

NLVA is the other one I was looking for that I couldn't find. It'll be a good option for you if you just want the vanilla weathers.

EDIT:

It should be noted that you can use just about any weather mods with any ENB Preset. The only reason the authors say they're not compatible is because the author hasn't personally set up the ENB for the extended (added) weathers from those weather mods. So while you can use them together, it simply look a bit off in some weathers; especially those which add a lot of extra saturation to the imagespace.

Yeah, VW is the most saturated weather mod. And it does have interior lighting issues on my SR:LE lighting setup (imo, I think I've done it correctly)

Going to test Purity atm. Haven't tried NLVA.

Yes, you're right. But, right now I simply don't have time to tweak 'em and my ENB basics is bad ::P:

I have a ELE weathers mod that adjust the visuals to be as close to vanilla as possible but without the high amount of contrast.

It's similar to my ELEP-Vanilla preset available at my nexus profile.

Is "ELE Weather" and the "STEP Weather fixes"  the same plugin you posted a while ago here in the forums? I'm still using it and I find it perfect for me.

But, ELE-Weather is discontinued right? That's why you recommend VW (edit again : I hope that you complete ELEW... It's a good solution for those who hates vanilla weather but liked the concept)

@above : It's two different plugin, STEP Weather Fix is aiming to fix horrible vanilla weather values while ELEW (just say it like dat ::P: ) also modifies the colors a bit while staying as true to vanilla as possible

Hackfield

No they are not.

ELEW is more of an overhaul of the visuals while the STEP Weather Fixes is, just as the name entails, a fix of the visuals while maintaining the visuals of the vanilla game.

Just as Fantomax said.

Maybe, I don't know really.

I haven't touched Skyrim or modding since february, thank good some months of off time from modding since 2011, but I do believe I will come back in full gear with the release of the Special Edition.
