MO profiles + DynDOLOD

Sakiri

Question

Long story shore, I have a STEP Core setup on a profile and I'm trying to make another one based off Brodual's Dark Fantasy video(https://youtu.be/gr8XlcFY57U).

I'm installing everything but the last three on his list in the comments. The Dark Fantasy Overhaul was moved to Enhanced Landscapes.

Enhanced Landscapes requires DynDOLOD and I need to regenerate some stuff but I'm not exactly sure how to do this with an existing build because if I disable some of the LOD patches in MO it gives me crap about dependencies.  I also don't know what to do about the bashed patch.

I don't know if I still have the original files I used when I installed DynDOLOD in the first place, I had a bad upgrade to 10 and lost a lot of files. I'd copied my MO folders and the like over but I don't think I had the installer saved.

So I'm not sure how to go about doing this as I'm kind of an idiot with modding. I don't want to screw up my existing STEP install because redownloading 13 GB of stuff isn't an option, Comcast will pitch a fit.

Including STEP load order(I don't have the ENB or Enhanced Landscapes installed yet):

I think the first step to make things a bit easier in the long term is to rename all of your "generated" mods in the STEP Core profile to make it clear these belong to the STEP Core profile. I'm looking at my STEP Extended profile so it would be something like this:

  • Rename Bashed Patch to something like STEP Core Bashed Patch
  • Rename Dual Sheath Redux Output to something like STEP Core Dual Sheath Redux Output
  • Rename FNIS Output to something like STEP Core FNIS Output
  • STEP LOD Textures and STEP DynDOLOD Output are probably clearly named

Now copy your STEP Core profile to a new profile and uncheck the above mods from the left pane. Add any mods you want to this new profiles and then redo the patches section in the guide, but give the generated mods new names appropriate for this new profile (e.g. something like Dark Fantasy Bashed Bashed).

My install is a mess right now and I'm not sure there's a salvage to it.

In fact, I'm tempted to dump it entirely.

I attempted to tweak the STEP install a bit and it got to the point where it was unplayable. Lag lag lag lag crappy framerates, etc.

That was why I wanted to try it on a fresh profile with different LODs to see if lowering the quality of those helped.

Nope. Tried to reinstall it all getting rid of some of the mesh mods in an attempt to fix my framerate. Nope.

So I went and restarted an install. Whole new freaking install. Didn't install some of the mesh mods or higher res textures. Used low settings on DynDLOD(I need to use it for Enhanced Landscapes, which is what I'm trying to install and get running) but now I have ILS

Going to open a new thread and see if you guys can't help me figure that out(again). I've been messing with this thing for two days now and it's making my head hurt.

This is some useful information however, so I'll +1 that. It'll come in handy later.

Post your system specs (e.g. video card, total VRAM, total RAM, processor, x86 or x64 operating system, etc.) in your new thread so we have more information to go on. You might also consider using spINI to setup clean INI files with known good settings.
