Can not find DynDOLOD Resources SE Core Files

jcamp

Question

post-12775-0-69861700-1527044466_thumb.png

I manually installed the resource files and have it checked on ModOrganizer2, they are up-to-date with my standalone files, added the -sse argument and now I'm generally confused because my TextGen worked completely fine but DynDOLOD refuses to work. Can anyone help me with this?

DynDOLOD checks if a few key files exist in the load order. Either the required core files from DynDOLOD Resources SE are not installed completey in the correct location in the data folder / mod manager equivalent or something (UAC, anti virus) is preventing access.

Make sure the DynDOLOD Resources SE download is complete. Since you seem to be using a mod manager that supports the FOMod installer I suggest to install the archive the normal way.

I'm having the same problem as jcamp. I'm using MO v2.1.2, following a guide by TechAngel85.

I downloaded both the resources and the standalone as version 2.37. I installed the resources through MO and everything appears to have been installed correctly. Running TexGen returns a solid output and I installed the output as a mod but when opening DynDOLOD I get this:

Error: Can not find DynDOLOD Resources SE core files required to create improved LOD.
RTFM DynDOLOD_Manual_SSE.html requirements section.
Verify the core files from DynDOLOD Resources SE archive has been installed completly.
Verify the game is starting in the desired game mode. Current mode: SSE
Current Data path C:\SteamLibrary\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\

The data path is correct. The only thing I can think of is that MO by default is installing my mods in %appdata% and I don't know if DynDOLOD knows to look for them in there...Does it account for that or do I have to reinstall all my mods in a specific place so it can find them?

DynDOLOD looks for game data files in the mentioned games data path.

If you use MO and you start DynDOLOD from its executable drop down all installed and activated mods are mapped to the games data path through the virtual file system (e.g. mod manager equivalent).

Make sure all of the core files from DynDOLOD Resources SE are installed to a MO mod folder and appear in the virtual data folder - MO right window, data tab.

It's installed through MO, shows up in the data pane and it's in the physical folder, I only run DynDOLOD from MO too. I've been tearing my hair out over here trying to figure this out. XD

Thanks for your timely response Sheson.

Here's exactly what I have right now.

Edit: I think it's important to note all my other mods work.

The DynDOLOD folder and files shown in the screenshot are not from DynDOLOD Resources SE core files, but DynDOLOD Resources SE optionals.

DynDOLOD.exe checks if a few key files from DynDOLOD Resources SE core files exist in the meshes and textures folders of the load order.

The screenshot shows that you started DynDOLOD in TES5 mode instead of SSE mode, so it look in the data folder of Skyrim instead of Skyrim SE.

HA! You're amazing. I assumed it was running in SSE mode because I added the "-sse" argument to the shortcut MO was referencing but MO was ignoring that argument and running it without it because the link in the program list didn't have "-sse" in the argument line. After changing the argument line to include it everything worked perfectly.

I assume this would be the reasoning behind most people's DynDOLOD not working.

Thanks for being a champion!

Hello,

I've been following a step by step installation guide (start to finish on Youtube)

everything went well up until using DynDOLODx64.exe

I checked and all the core resource files are in their appropriate folders, (downloaded them from skyrim nexus, like in the video, just to make sure there is no separate SE version?)

no UAC or antivirus issues, using vortex as mod manager

output worked fine, is added to the list

-sse added to command lines, exe ran through executable in Vortex manager with -sse as command line

read a few other people's similar problems but couldn't find a solution that worked for  me

here is my error message, I hope there are some more tips, I'd love to use DynDOLOD

if any logs or other data is useful to know, let me know and I'll put it here

Based on the error message it looks like you installed DynDOLOD Resources (for Skyrim) instead of DynDOLOD Resources SE (for Skyrim SE/VR)

Also get latest 2.41 version from first post.

I am getting an error that says I am missing DynDOLOD SE Resources, I have dyndolod se resources 2.43 installed, and yet it doesnt work. I use Vortex when the first error occurred, then I went ahead and manually copied the contents of the resources mod over and it still failed, then I fully extracted and installed the fomod myself and it still failed, I tried both dyndolod and dyndolodx64 and they both have failed.

I suggest to carefully read the entire error message and follow its suggestions what to verify. If that does not help search this forum and you will find that indeed the suggestions the message tells you to check are the one of the reasons: either the correct Resources were not installed completely (wrong archive, broken download, broken mod manager that fails to unpack the archive correctly) or that time and again the tools were not started in the correct game mode because the command line argument -sse was forgotten or not set correctly.

This is where it fails, as evidenced by the error I am not an idiot and did in fact run it for the correct game, I have attempted redownloading the resources files and reinstalling, which had no (positive) affect. I have installed manually to the correct folder and with vortex neither of which worked. unless the first post is incorrect where it says "DynDOLOD Resources SE 2.43 beta" and that is actually the resources for le, then I am using the correct resource files. Could you give me useful information such as "under this one of the 20 different inis you can enable more verbose logging that will actually help you fix the error" instead of "you arent running it for sse"?

Why not properly check the first thing I suggested to check?

Let me explain how this check works again:

DynDOLOD checks the load order for a couple of key files from DynDOLOD Resources.

If key files are not found the message will be shown.

If key files are overwritten by files from other mods, the message will be shown. Based on the message key files are not from DynDOLOD Resources SE or have been changed or can  not be accessed properly.

"The first thing I suggested to check" is the log, which apparently has a suggestion to verify (it doesnt) and anyway I did reinstall the resources multiple times and the only thing that was ever overwriting them was texgen output (which should overwrite them according to all instructions I can find) however I will try reinstalling everything again see if it works.

The only files that were being overwritten were files generated by TexGen, according to the instructions those files are to be installed over the core resources. I ran texgen again (deleting the old files of course) and it still had the error, I deleted everything from dyndolod (including resources, texgen, texgen output, and dyndolod) and redownloaded and installed everything. I finally get a screen that is useful. apparently it wasnt dyndolod resources that was corrupt (or the first 4 reinstalls would have fixed it) but rather the dyndolod install that was corrupt. I dont know whether it was the exe or one of the other files. it was quite annoying however to have to redownload so much and ask why only to basically get "you didnt follow the instructions" twice when I did several times.
