Skyrim VR support

brentw89

Question

From the videos, I love the detail your mod adds, but does DynDOLOD work for Skyrim VR? I saw the following thread claiming it does, but it's unclear on the exact steps and caveats.
https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimvr/comments/89qsf7/using_dyndolod/

Could you please clarify?

For example, from the thread:
a. I see an "Edit Scripts" folder but I see no "Scripts" folder. Should we delete "Edit Scripts"?  Rename it?
b. I assume I use the DynDOLOD SE Beta 2.36 and not some other version?
c. Do I have to install the 140 mods I'm currently using in VR under a new SE installation (that would take forever) or is there another method by temporarily renaming folders or something? (I use Vortex)
d. Apparently, unchecking the "Generate DynDOLOD box" is one of the steps.
e. Something about bShowHUDMessages=0 was mentioned to suppress messages?

I really wish someone would just say follow these numbered steps "1, 2, 3, etc". One of the steps could be to follow the instructions in the DynDOLOD manual (and/or the SE manual?) but with these caveats. Or does it just have too many bugs/issues in VR right now? If so, I'm sure people would want to know that too so they don't waste time on it. Or, if you're about to put out a beta that supports VR, that would also be good to know.

Thank you!

If you have problems or questions about 3rd party instructions I suggest to ask the author.

I will answer the question verbatim. I do not have SKyrimVR.

a. Edit Scripts belongs to DynDOLOD standalone and should not be deleted. While there is no PapyrusUtil for VR hide the papryus Scripts folder that is installed with DynDOLOD Resources SE.

b. Yes, that is the most recent version that you should use. The future DynDOLOD 2.37 will support the VR installation path. In a couple weeks.

c. Renaming should work. I would try a mklink /J "Skyrim Special Edition" to "SKyrimVR", maybe that works too. In any case this will also requires a correct Skyrim Special Edition registry entry, Skyrim.INI and plugins.txt

d. While there is no PapyrusUtil for VR do not select "Generate DynDOLOD".

e. Suppressing notification/error messages instead of fixing their cause is a bad idea. There should be no need to suppress messages in game because of a. and d. there shouldn't really be any messages anymore I believe.
