So I'm part of the way through my install and realized that hey ModOrganizer didn't make any start menu entries when I installed the latest RC through it's installer.

Do you mean that no entries are shown when you click the windows 'start' button (bottom left corner)?

Or do you mean no shortcut icons are put on the desktop so you can start MO from there?

I've just downloaded the RC8 installer version and installed it (for this test) and indeed no shortcut for MO is placed on the Desktop. I also don't have a start menu entry. Hence I can confirm your findings. I do have a shortcut for my 1.5 year old MO version. Can't remember if it was put there by the installer or by myself. I always install MO manually by unzipping. I also start MO with windows explorer.

Perhaps Tannin can tell us if the observed behavior is intended or not?

The Installer is just a self-extracting 7-Zip file.

This will not do anything but extract contents to the chosen folder.

My understanding, this is because of one Mod Organizer for each game feature, as only last games Mod Organizer shortcuts would exist.

The game is only chosen after installing Mod Organizer so manual shortcuts must be made if you want them.

By start menu entries I meant he ones when you go into the start menu (the button in the left) and go to all programs and there are folders for the individual programs.

That's weird Tannin it's always had a start menu folder for me so maybe an unintended side effect?. I have taskbar icon but sometimes delete it and I like to be able to just go into the start menu and type in Mod and bam it's there. Anyways I fixed it I used an older installer and had it update to the latest RC, and the start menu folder is there now.

You can make one using shortcut button inside Mod Organizer under for Start Menu, Desktop or Toolbar for any executable but you would have to make a Mod Organizer Executable inside Mod Organizer a bit redundant but it will then make one,

Only other way is you made one manually yourself and forgot.

It is impossible for Installer to Make one, it is a .7Z file with a simple wrapper that asks you where to put it they are made by Add to Archive function in 7-Zip and where it says Options is Create SFX Archive tick box

SFX=Self extracting

Doing this makes an .exe file but all it does is what its name says and you don't need 7-Zip progam or other archive program to get files out.

It is impossible for it to create a folder not inside itself and it will only Self Extract to one Folder that you specify when you use it.

You've fixed it so no problem now or need to use method above you can always do what you've done and if you put new program in exact same place as old the old shortcut will still work unless the file name changes.

We would have to create an actual installer/uninstaller for Mod Organizer to add Start Menu buttons. This is not really too hard to do, and I have done it before, but I don't think the route of an actual installer is one that Tannin really wants to travel down, since one principal advantage of MO is its portable platform supporting multiple games on multiple MO installs.
