Question

Originally Nexus user Qerm posted this in the Nexus MO forum. So that this discussion will not get buried on the nexus forums I created the question here and will respond to it here.

I'm having an issue with one mod otherwise everything has been going pretty well.

Grandmaster - True Unarmed and Unarmored Combat

https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13281//?

When I try to install this mod I get an error message saying

"None of the available installer plugins were able to handle that archive."

I look at the organization of the archive and I can't seem to see anything wrong with it. I've tried installing it directly from the archive and through the downloader. If there is another way of doing it I would appreciate it.

I've looked into it and can confirm what you wrote. I've looked at the mod - Grandmaster - True Unarmed and Unarmored Combat. It has no installer and MO should be able to handle it with the 'manual installer' plugin. Its slightly odd packaged as it has a data directory in it but normally MO can handle them just fine. Somehow this specific one can't be handled atm.

Solution: Please create a ticket for it in the issue tracker. That way Tannin can fix it. Possibly there are more mods which are oddly packaged (in the same way) so others can profit as well.

Workaround:

Repackage the mod. Unzip the zipfile so you have a GrandMaster_base-13281-9-07 directory (calling it dirX). Move the meshes, Script directories from the data directory to the root  of dirX, do the same for  file GrandMaster.esp file. Now delete the data dir and zip dirX again with the same name. If using 7zip make sure the zipfile only has the two dirs and the esp. Now install the mod. I've done this and it installs.

I'm trying to be more concise, and leaving out details one might not be interested in. Should you or anyone else need more info, just ask.

Wolf, you'll never succeed. You and i both know it. ;)

Now, if anyone needs me to I'd be happy to upload to my mediafire account properly packeged mods for MO install. Just pm me and I'll send a private link once i have the file uploaded.

If this is against the rules let me know, but as far as i know this should be fine since it will not be a public upload.

Qerm has created a bug report ticket for it in the issue tracker. Its #451.

Solution: It needs to be fixed by the mod author. Replies from Tannin in this ticket and the Nexus MO forum.

Issue tracker: The file has the wrong file extension. It's labeled as a 7z but really it's a zip. A specialized archiving software (or a library better than the one I have available) may be able to guess the correct file type despite that but MO can't.

Nexus MO forum: That file is a .zip, incorrectly names .7z.

Please contact the mod author. MO tries to guess the correct file type based on content instead of file extensions but it appears it's not perfect at that...

Wolf, you'll never succeed. You and i both know it

If you mean by this

Never make people post in this forum. that is not the aim

The ultimate aim is one thread per question here and all repeat posts are directed to that one thread.

So please check solved forum as well as main forum

As time passes most posts will be directed to existing threads and many will be already solved

Force will never succeed but when they see the completed and fully intergrated structure of Forum Wiki and Videos

The holdouts will join us, I hope.

We just have to "Make it so".

The separate guide thread is purely for about the Wiki guide itself not Mod Organizer use .

This is why it is grouped with other Wiki guides and not on these forums.

Sent from phone and can't edit with it so will edit on PC later.
