Running MO with multiple games

JarodCain

Question

Hello,

I've dug through this forum and the wiki and haven't seen anything specifically stating how to do this. But, I've been running Mod Organizer quite happily with Skyrim for awhile now, and recently had a urge to play New Vegas. Considering how MO is compatible with both games, is there a way (that I must be missing) to set things up so I can have separate profiles for each game in tandem?

IE: Have one profile named "Jarod Cain - Skyrim", and have another named "Jarod Cain - NV" and each associated to their respective games?

Thanks,

-J-

Just created in the advanced tab of the wiki this section: "Running MO with multiple games".

It has been discussed a few times in the Nexus MO forum and can be found, the trick is to use the correct search phrase. I used 'multiple' and found the following:

You can't add multiple games to one MO installation but you can have multiple separate MO installations. Simply install MO again and point it at FONV on the first start up.

Don't put it in the Fallout Directory though. That is what I did and done goofed :P

I think it was Wrye Flash that created a /Fallout New Vegas Mods/ Folder. So I stuck 2nd MO in there and now Wrye Flash recognizes Mod Organizer's Mod List. Which enables me to create a Bash Patch for them.

Not really the way that should be done. Correct method is to run Wrye Bash (Flash) through Mod Organizer like any third party Application.

Only then will any program (Wrye Flash in your case) see Mod Organizers Virtual Folder and therefore be able to work on your current profiles mods.

In your case make a Bashed Patch for all the Mods installed.

I don't know enough about Fallout (Just bought both 3 and NV yesterday in Steam Halloween Sale), to say exactly what is happenning, but my guess is it's just your real data folder being patched.

Mod Organizer should be fine in Fallout folder but all its files and folders should always be inside ModOrganizer folder.

Path to Mod Organizer Program is for Steam Version:

…\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Fallout 3\ModOrganizer\ModOrganizer.exe

…\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Fallout 3 GotY\ModOrganizer\ModOrganizer.exe

…\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Fallout New Vegas\ModOrganizer\ModOrganizer.exe

…\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Morrowind\ModOrganizer\ModOrganizer.exe

…\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Oblivion\ModOrganizer\ModOrganizer.exe

…\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim\ModOrganizer\ModOrganizer.exe

Whereever the game you are playing is this should be path if inside game folder

…\ModOrganizer\ModOrganizer.exe

If you dont want to have ModOrganizer in the actual game folder another option would be, but only use outside actual Games folder.

…\ModOrganizer\Fallout 3\ModOrganizer.exe

…\ModOrganizer\Fallout 3 GotY\ModOrganizer.exe

…\ModOrganizer\Fallout New Vegas\ModOrganizer.exe

…\ModOrganizer\Morrowind\ModOrganizer.exe

…\ModOrganizer\Oblivion\ModOrganizer.exe

…\ModOrganizer\Skyrim\ModOrganizer.exe

Finally to be absolutely clear All the other Mod Organizer Files and Folders should be with ModOrganizer.exe for each game

Theres too many to show for all options but here's a New untouched version

Thanks for the Reply Uhuru! Sorry I wasn't clear on my earlier post.

I moved the ENTIRE /Mod Organizer folder outside /fallout New Vegas directory.

X:/Steam/...Common/Fallout New Vegas Mods/Mod Organizer

b4= x:/Steam/...Common/Fallout New Vegas/Mod Organizer =Game Directory

I have all the apps (fnvedit, Wrye Flash, fnv4gb+nvse, BOSS) setup right in MO's exe tree. They are working properly. Wrye Flash is the only one that required "jumping through a few hoops"

When I opened WFlash Before in MO, the Mods that showed up in WFlash were an old install.

That I uninstalled but were still showing up afterwards. AND WFlash was not recognizing MO's Mod list or /Mods folder. (however that works) nor the right Boss masterlist? I think?

After Moving the whole Directory of /Mod Organizer outside the /fallout directory enabled MO n WFlash to do their thing :)

side note:

@Uhuru (@end of your post)

"Whereever the game you are playing is this should be path if inside game folder

…\ModOrganizer\ModOrganizer.exe"

^Thats how I have it setup for Skyrim.

But WFlash wouldn't display my Mods in New Vegas MO.

Thank You for the Reply Uhuru. Nice PC specs yea got there :)

just a tip here, it might help to make your posts look a little cleaner and viewer friendly by using quotes and spoiler tags where appropriate. if you are unsure then quote a post or a snippet by using

post quote here[*/quote] without the astrick (*), and spoiler by

hidden text here[*/spoiler] once again without the asterick (*)

I have copied the information provided by Uhuru to the S.T.E.P. MO wiki, tab'advanced', section "Where to install Mod Organizer".

As the wiki is currently being fleshed out its possible that the contents will be moved to another section or that the contents will be condensed or otherwise edited. I invite everyone to edit the wiki page(s).
