Also use the rings Lite version (the area where the rings coil around are still 2D while the exposed chain is 3D). I'm not sure how the normal version is organized... I'm using the manual version, so I don't get that option for half-size textures, although I'm sure they're in there if you know where to look. You don't install into the Data directory with MO, but into Mod Organizer/mods/modname. That was pretty much his point.
