[Vexzarium]

I actually have each of his or her mods installed on my current setup. I have the basic STEP:Core line-up of AMidianBorn and I loved Book of Silence so much that I went and tried the rest. This particular mod fit so well into STEP that I figured I'd throw it out there.

The only things I don't like about some of CaBaL's landscape textures is that it's an artistic deviation from vanilla meaning that not everyone is going to like it and they tend to look blurry (in screens at least...haven't tried them since their early days).

I was disappointed by the way the graphics looked in those screenshots, in the actual game the textures look rather nice. And in order to maintain my 60fps w/ a full ENB, I opted for the 1k variants which I'm assuming is what would be suggested in STEP:Core anyhow. I'm sure the 2k versions look even better. I take my screenshots w/ MSi Afterburner in JPG format, for compatibility reasons, at "100%" quality. They seem to be a bit grainy.

 

I suppose I should disable all non-STEP mods and "Shift+F12" with these textures installed for a better look at how they fit in.

I assume current STEP for landscape textures is Serious HD ? If so you might want to take a look at the SHD 3.0 update first before looking at anything else as it's really good, no doubt one of the best landscape packs you can get at the moment. Only problem is the author has not made 1k version yet I believe, so you would have to suggest the vram-starved to half-size them with DDSopt.

You would be correct but also in combination with SRO which overwrites much of SHD. I've had my eye on 3.0. Just waiting for that 1K version to come along.

A few screens I just did. I really like some stuff in STEP and like some stuff in this pack. I haven't done everything obviously because there is a lot. I'll add to this I feel like it.

Like I said, I like some of this stuff a lot like that one ground texture from The Reach. The bridges look good too. Some other stuff I like STEP stuff. More screens one day.

I like all three while I'm in game, so I don't know really. I'd say the best course of action is to pick and choose the best like the old mod combiner days, but I don't want to put in that amount of work ATM. If someone has that kind of patience then they can do it. I did that for Solsthiem and it actually worked amazingly when I got feedback from about 8 or so people. This is different though, it's like three or four times the textures and work involved probably goes up on a curve.

The one that I liked from AMB:L is the bridge texture but I have to ask about the semi distant rocks to the left and right of the bridge. Was that just an unlucky render or does AMB:L produce better detail a distance?

From the compares and my own limited testing, I prefer current STEP as it simply blends better and possesses more detail.

I agree, and am willing to admit when I was wrong. Seeing those screenshots above and now after turning AMB:L off and comparing for myself... It looks much better in the default STEP configuration.

I agree as well from those shots. I've said it several time but CaBaL's landscape textures just appear to have a blur applied to all of them. STEP is much better.

I don't like the rocks or road from Serious, but I like just about everything else. All three are really nice in game and I bet combining them somehow would be the best outcome, but I'm not doing that much work right now. I would probably do it at one point, since I hate fun.

AMB has it's own rock textures. They aren't that great in game, but Cabal is working on new ones.

With the Serious 3 added, I like current STEP even more, except that new Serious 3 creek texture is excellent! Gets rid of the meaningless rock pattern and makes it look more alive, like we might actually have some typical water life in there somewhere!
