Hi,

Soon i will upload new version of SRO. Many textures are new and 4k resolution.
Here is small demonstration:

SRO is still my favorite texture pack along with vivid landscape.

It would be nice to get SRO back into the STEP mod list. We lost a lot of base textures when it went away.

I like snow texture from "HQ Snow Texture" mod, so i asked for permission to include it in my mod. I only use his "snow01" texture as a base, so the rest are changed. 

But looks like he doesn't like that idea  :lol:  And i can't suggest his textures because they don't fit with mine?

Looking forward to seeing how that looks with Skyrim SE new snow shaders

 

Edit : Did you need to add alphas to all land textures ( same as all SE land textures ) for correct transparency on the diffuse textures ( and I should imagine blending at the edges where one landscape texture meets another ) ?

And how does that affect backwards compatability with Skyrim original ( if its at all any concern, I should imagine it would only cost a bit more VRAM for Skyrim Original users of the same textures )

Landscapes.
  • TerribleBadReally awful. So much for 'Remastered' here.

  • landscape textues are all 1k, but not really. Again, 'upscaling' has occurred from 512x512 or lower. And it shows.

  • If you stare are grounds like me, find a landscape texture pack pronto.

  • The one thing I did notice is now all landscape texture normal maps, have alpha specular layers. Which wasn't the norm in vanilla. This is: A: Why existing texture packs the cover landscapes need to be updated to work with SE, B: why people who install current landscape texture packs get 'glassy' textures, and C: potentially very awesome because landscapes might actually have a specular shader, something that is missing in vanilla.

  • The one 'shining light' is the mountains texture which is actually 4k!! But again, it's been upscaled from a smaller resolution. So not really 4k. So it's a huge waste for low-end users. Plus there's now 'mountainslab01mask' and 'mountainslab02mask' texture files, which aren't in vanilla. I wonder what those do?

That snow picture is from regular Skyrim version.

I have ported yesterday snow textures to SE version, and this new snow shader nonsense is making textures look bad. Bethesda amateurs! 

 

Yes i have added alphas. And i don't understand why did they include them everywhere?

This Helgen SE mesh does not have correct texture. Anyone knows where it is located?

Not sure about it being wrong, we cant really compare with Original Skyrim if there have been artistic design changes for Special Edition, the place is supposed to be muddy, maybe Bethesda thought it was not muddy enough in original ?

 

Just thinking out loud, anyway .. I dont know the technicalities of your artistic objectives in this area so I will shut my lips :)

 

 

I must admit though, the textures do seem to have been chosen from an unusual set, of all places they are Riften dungeon textures ..
