Acronyms: Wants & Issues

WilliamImm

Question

IP Boards has a nice ability to 'disambiguate' the plethora of acronyms that we use at STEP (simply place the cursor over an acronym to see what it translates to in real language). If you DO NOT see the translation on mouse hover, then the acronym is not yet defined.

While we have added many of the most common:
AFAIK
IIRC
SRO ...

Many are probably still needed, so please post here if there are any that you think should be added or post if there are issues with existing acronym conversions.

Well, only the one - the SMIM acronym currently reads "Skyrim Mesh Improvement Mod (mod)". Not only is the actual name of the mod "Static Mesh Improvement Mod", the (mod) tag is redundant because the acryonym expands to include "mod".

Also, EBQO (which I use frequently when referring to Even Better Quest Objectives) and REGS (Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim, also frequently used now) should be listed in the acronym lists.

I found this thread so I figure why not have some input.

Here is a list of common ones that may already exist...

UOPs is kinda tricky because UOP can be just the Unofficial Oblivion Patch

Some of them generally have a number next to them like QTP3/QTPIII and OCOV2/OCO2

OBSE non case-sensitive

"Oblivion Script Extender"

OOO case-sensitive

"Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul"

MMM case-sensitive

"Martigen's Monster Mod"

TMM case-sensitive

"TesModManager"

OBMM case-sensitive

"Oblivion Mod Manager"

UOPs case-sensitive

"Unofficial Oblivion Patches"

OCO case-sensitive

"Oblivion Character Overhaul"

UL case-sensitive

"Unique Landscapes"

QTP case-sensitive

"Qarls Texture Pack"

OCOCCCM case-sensitive

"Oblivion Character Overhaul v2 and Comprehensive Cosmetic Compilation Merge"

No joke, its a thing and its a pain to search for but V2 may need to be left out and I am thinking about adding this mod

Can these acronyms be made case-sensitive? Just noticed a post over in the VIP Chat where AFK Mods was referenced but of course the AFK shows as "away from keyboard". In the context of the comment about a supposed debate over a 'STEP hit squad' I found that mildly amusing.

If 'afk' could mean that and perhaps AFK could point to that other site? Then again, there probably isn't that many times where this sort of thing occurs. Just a thought.
