Requiem Pack (WIP)

Recommended Posts

SOLVED (mostly)

Yes, when using Lumen, I was careful to not use conflicting mods. (the mod site explicitly says Lumen and ELFX Enhancer, while it won't crash, are not intended to use together.  )

After seeking some advice from someone who does lots of photography, I was informed that the white haze was caused by my monitor (incorrect brightness, gammacurve and contrast).  After lowering the brightness and boosting the Gammacurve, I get very close to what the Lumen ENB should look like.  So its not a case of an incorrect installation, but a case of incorrect display set up.

Shadows are close to what they should be, but the fire intensity is off during the day.  Other than that, the contrast might be a little high for my liking, but its almost exactly like what the mod page screen shots show.  Now its just a matter of me adjusting parameters to my liking.

load order:

Note: the ETaC ELFX patch esp is unchecked (so as not to muck with the other MO profiles), and I have a merged esp with the corresponding esp's unchecked.   ETaC have its patches merged as well.  I'm very close to the 253 esp limit.

Back to the previous CTD:

After looking at the Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade mod, under "Conflicts" area, I note the /scripts/mineorescript.pex is overwritten by Requiem.  This means that CCO-Remade Requiem patch has problems that need to be solved.  (Correction, I don't have a CCO-Remade Requiem patch... so that would explain that problem.)

I'll update my above installation notes to reflect the addition of my missing patches.  I'm getting sooo close, I can feel it...   Too bad Open Cities doesn't have some magical auto patcher so that it would be compatible with anything. Sigh...

Follower Mods:

I'm trying to find a follower mod that would be compatible with the set up, and have found 2 that seem to be reasonably current and have patches:

- EFF: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12933/

    - with patches: (may be out of date?) https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/62188/?
Or
- Follower Mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60763

Both have Requiem patches, and interesting NPC's.   Both allow you to retreat (ie set followers to not engage and suicide) and both let you set the combat type (front line, ranged, etc).   Biggest pain I have with followers is their unquenchable thirst to run head long into the first bandit camp they find, which really sucks in early Requiem when you don't have a chance in hell of winning.

Does anyone here have experience with either of these (or other follower mods) and could lend some words of advice?

Hi All,

I've been trying to set up Skyrim with the STEP:Extended, REGS and Requiem packs, along with some other mods I enjoy as on the wiki. However my set up isn't working. I keep getting CTDs. I've detailed everything I've done so far below:

Set up STEP extended with everything except DynDolod. REGS has everything except the three optional mods and the courier service mod. Apart from these and Requiem, I'm also using Immersive Armors, Immersive Weapons and Immersive Creatures and a few other utlity mods (Matter of time, take notes etc.). As for requiem, I got all the compatibility patches from another requiem patch central and the rest from azirok's patch central. Got the NRM compatibility patches for DB, Falskaar and Wyrmstooth. I'm also using Realvision ENB (using option A i.e. the one for CoT)

I've also attached my load order. Is there a debug log which I can also attach to this?

Many thanks.

Edit: load order attached now (sorry just joined the forum). I've also attached copied the text from my Skyrim.INI and Skyrimprefs.ini into two separate txt files and uploaded those here as well.

Edit: the CTD's occur right after I start the game. To clarify: the main menu loads up fine. I select new game. Then I get the cell from alternate start. After I choose the vanilla start it CTDs. Sometimes immediately, sometimes a minute or two later. Sometimes it freezes up.

Hi all,

OK Now onto attempt 2. I've been trying to set up a modlist incorporating STEP Extended; REGS; Requiem and a few mods from the SR:LE list (Immersive armors, weapons & creatures being the big draws) and almost all mods from immersive survival pack (exceptions being the hunstman bow and realistic needs).  This yime I'm being more cautious and asking before leaping.

So I have a few questions:

I know that installation order is important when it comes to texture/mesh mods (and other mods without plugins). I've ordered my existing STEP Extended list exactly as it appears on the wiki i.e. sorted by priority and dragged all the mods into an ordered list. And I've noticed a pattern there that graphic mods are before gameplay mods, sound is somewhere in between etc.

1st: REGS says to install all its mods after STEP; my first question is that will that lead to an epic cluster****? Or should I re-order the REGS mods like I have done with the STEP Extended list?

2nd Question: Should I re-build DynDoLOD?

3rd: MO keeps complaining about the difference in the install order (set by me) and the load order (set by LOOT), what should I do?

Here's my current STEP Extended load order:

the guide is a bit out of date. Its basically for requiem 1.7.x. Now that we're in 1.9.x territory I suggest you use the guide but only with mods which you can get current patches for. This https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61621/? is a good start

SOLVED. My issue was that UKSP was out of date. So far looks good. I'll report any bugs I find.

Hi Folks,

I'm encountering a problem I've seen mentioned before, but with suggestions that it has either been fixed, is just an issue with the Helgen default start sequence or is related to the Bashed Patch: Invisible Armors.

I've set up STEP Extended (2.2.9.1) with Requiem 1.9.1, no Bashed Patch, all relevant (including only suggested) Requiem Patches, everything in the specified load order and all installed according to the guide on Atlassian.  I've started via Alternate Life and found Solitude Guards to have invisible armor.  I reinstalled Requiem against a profile with only Skyrim (1.9.32.0.8) + DLC (Cleaned) + Unofficial Patches + SKSE (1.7.3 R48)/SkyUI (5.1) then Requiem and finally Alternate Start, rebuilt and reinstalled Requiem for the Indifferent.  Same result!  I've also tried re-downloading and reinstalling Requiem to no avail (same size and checksum).

Clearly this isn't the norm.  The only thing I can think of is that there's some cleanup that needs to be done between regeneration of the SkyProccer patch, but I can't find anything written up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as reading about Requiem was my prompt  to get back into gaming after a decade off.

Hello all.  Sorry for having been MIA for over a month without mentioning anything, but the work trolls got me and I couldn't get away from them.

I was reading some of the recent threads, and it looks like some more people are taking up the torch to get Requiem and STEP to play nicely together.  In a previous post (https://forum.step-project.com/topic/4558-requiem-pack-wip/?p=133206) I list all the patches I've found as well as the load order I'm using.  I also used TES5Edit to make its patch for everything pre requiem installation (place the pach esp above the requiem stuff).  then I build on top of that with requiem mods and patches.  I've found there to be "fewer" crashes, but things are not rock solid yet.

If you guys find any additional patches, or discover a problem with any of the ones I listed, please let me know. I would like to do another write up of the installation process, since I've made some reasonably large changes since the last one (largely replacing the lighting (CoT) with Lumen ENB).

Referring to this post (https://forum.step-project.com/topic/4558-requiem-pack-wip/?p=134692), Before I go looking for more patches, I'm going to have to look for redundant and non essential mods that conflict.  I know that the Enhanced Blood mod, Complete Crafting overhaul, and some sort of Mining script are causing most of my problems, so some sort of patch is required there.  My previous major bug where bears, Lions and Giants would launch me across the map seems to have been fixed, though I have no idea what fixed it:)

1st: REGS says to install all its mods after STEP; my first question is that will that lead to an epic cluster****? Or should I re-order the REGS mods like I have done with the STEP Extended list?

2nd Question: Should I re-build DynDoLOD?

3rd: MO keeps complaining about the difference in the install order (set by me) and the load order (set by LOOT), what should I do?

sorry for the late reply:

1st:  From reading the STEP form, you should be able to install STEP(Extended), and then add on to the end the Requiem Mods.  I did that for REGS (minus RRR), Explorers Guide, Lighting, and The War Ensemble packs.  At the end I installed Requiem.  In terms of priority of things overwriting each other, it seemed to be ok...

2nd: I think you are supposed to rebuild DynDoLOD every time you add assets to the game enviornment.  Granted the 1-2hr it takes to build can suck, but its well worth it.

3rd: MO is great right up until you install Requiem.  The Requiem instructions specifically say you should manually order the requiem mods and patches.  I've tried to use rules to set the load order, but in the end I would just manually order the Requiem stuff, then group select the mods, right click > Lock Load Order,  then use LOOT to order non requiem mods, then unlock the mods, and do any final tweeking.  I've had bad stuff happen if I changed the load order after making the patches, so you need to re build all patches after you change stuff.

junaid,  How has your Requiem building project been going?  Have you had success or run into problems?   If you get a chance, could you let us know what order you installed the packs in, or if you re arranged the packs amoung the STEP install.  Would like to know how it works out.

Skyrim with Requiem (and everything but the kitchen sink)

Trying to get a (reasonably) stable Skyrim Requiem Build.

----NOTICE----

Skyrim STEP has been updated. My setup is based on the previous build:

https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9#STEP_Packs

Some of the new mods, such as the AI mod, make very large changes, and therefore are not compatible with a large number of mods in my list, or need patching (on the level of Requiem). Since I've just gotten this setup working, it will be a while before I reinstall everything all over again to start over.

----Yes, you will need to start a fresh game if you are deploying the new STEP install. For that matter, you need to start a new game for this "Requiem + everything else" build as well.----

General Notes:

Pre-First disclaimer: Modding Skyrim to this extent is not for the faint of heart. If the prospect of spending a dozen hours getting the mod set up working makes your heart skip a beat, then you may want to consider a different game. Now for those of you still reading, here we go (and if you are one of those people who only read instructions after running into a bug, LOL, and good luck.... you are going to need it :-)

First a disclaimer: My current iteration is not as stable as I would like. There are still occasional CTD's (with frequencies between 3hr to 30min between crashes), but for the most part it is stable enough to play. When a crash does happen, it does not happen twice, so it is hard to pin down. Read the spoiler below for more details of my current bugs.

Second disclaimer: I have tried to keep this as complete as possible, but I've probably missed stuff, such as settings, or the odd mod etc. At the end I'll have all my settings and such (in SPOILERS tags for reference.

Credits: Would also like to give credit to all the people and forums I've read and forgotten who/where they are. (I try to give credit by linking to the sources) I have not created or modified any mods, and I didn't come up with the work arounds myself. All I've done is collect all the information I can find for this specific mod set up. I take no credit for the mods contained within, and have not contributed to any of them directly myself.

oh, and I ended up with FC as my lowest mod, so if you want to add anything, you will have to merge esp's to make room. (I am open to ideas, as there are a few more mods I want to add, but simply can't due to load order constraints :)

---------- 2015 11 05

A few things got updates, such as the Requiem Patch central 1.9.2, so..., I've updated the related mods (USKP, audio overhaul, etc.) and will be seeing what happens.

So... Some where in STEP:Extended, there is this wonderful mod that makes the dragon-born symbol spin on the starting screen. While this is great, and animates the otherwise dead start screen, I've found a much more practical use for it. If you are starting up Skyrim, and the Dragon-born symbol thingy does not spin: You screwed something up, force quit skyrim, and try again...

Played some 50 hours or so. Had a few crashes, but compared to before, very very few.

----------

Current instabilities / bugs:

- Enhanced Blood Textures: This is a "too many bloody scripts" problem. By untoggling the "Enable NPC Scripts" options, CTD due to EBT seems to have gone away (this does not prevent scripts from running, but tones things down). Still get papyrus errors though, so something to watch.

- Footprints: This is another script spamming mod. I changed the MCM menu options NPC Limit: to 15 (down from 50) and the FX Limit: 5 (down from 15). This still lets you see your own foot prints, and if you are tracking an animal, you can still find it by the footprints in the snow, but if you are in a big battle, you don't get CTD due to everybody haveing footprints. Still something to watch.

- Follower Live Package: There is a problem with the follower food consumption. Compared to how much food iNeed makes the followers eat, FLP feels like they eat you out of house and home.

And they keep throwing away the water skins!!! Those things cost 60 gold!! (which is alot to keep buying when you are level 5 and making money off of alchemy) Very frustrating. Turning off follower meals in FLP seems to disable all follower meals (even if iNeed has follower needs enabled)

- On the bright side, FLP makes a Mage follower actually Mage, and follower healing is an amazing survivability feature. Makes an iron man challenge almost viable

- College of Winterhold Under Saarthal Quest (MG02) has 2 bugs.

- At stage 10, after Tolfdir teaches you a ward, everybody just stops in place, and does not go to Saarthal. You need to use "setstage MG02 20" to get stuff moving again.

- At stage 70, again, for whatever reason, after you defeat the drauger protecting the orb, Tolfdir does not talk to you to ask you to go see the arch mage, he infact keeps trying to follow you. Again, in the console "setstage MG02 70" will do the trick. You do miss a few lines of dialogue due to this, but if you talk to Tolfdir again, he has the dialogue options to explain what you need to do (ie talk to the arch mage)

Since I can't kill mages yet (they are brutal in Requiem), I have not advanced further in the College of Winterhold quest line to see if there are more bugs.

- Dragon Combat Overhaul: Not technically a glitch here, but with requiem, having 3 dragons drop on you, and each calls in 3 more buddies (note that means 12 "C3N$0R3D* dragons), it really makes you want to curl up in a ball and cry. If you are trying a Dead is Dead challenge, please do yourself a favor and skip DCO.

Should also note that the mod author explicitly says that this mod is designed to kill you, and to become harder until it succeeds. Since requiem unlevels everything, then dragons start off really powerful, and that first dragon you have to kill at the watch tower (at least for me) calls in his 3 buddies to help him, and uses all kinds of abilities to kill you. I lucked out and had a big Dawnguard patrol help me (and I had level 50 conjuration and alteration to help me), and I still almost died.

IF YOU INSTALL DCO, PLEASE SET IT ON AN EASIER SETTING, REALLY, YOU WILL THANK ME.

(if you are a masochist, then you can ignore this)

A quick overview of my current set up:

- For my set up, I decided to go for broke and add in everything in my core bucket list. I did make sure to exclude any non essential mods (mainly because I hit the mod cap, and I already had a dozen mods combined to make more room) and any that obviously conflicted.

Current set up:

For each step, I installed the mods in MO, and gave each their own profile (click on the profile, manage, select the parent profile, copy, new name, and then make sure to create new patch mods so the previous profile is unaffected by new patching and mods. SPECIAL Note: Most patch mods can be copied, renamed, and then updated. Do not do that with DynDOLOD. You must re install it each time, and run the update fresh, or you get problems...)

This allows me to go back to a previous install and see how stuff worked, so I can figure out where a problem started. This is absolutely necessary for bug fixing. I have 8 separate profiles for each build of Requiem alone, and this allows me to compare various patches, and figure stuff out. I would have given up on debugging Skyrim Requiem if I had not done this. (And if you break the game, it's only a matter of selecting the previous working profile and trying again!)

STEP:Extended

I installed STEP: Extended exactly as stated in the STEP instructions. This is the core profile upon which everything builds. Use tgm and tcl to fly around Skyrim, loading as much of the map as possible to look for instabilities and crashes.

A few of the Core mods will need to be disabled when you install Requiem, but that is done from the Requiem Profile. At this point, Everything is Exactly as the STEP:Extended instructions want. Nothing should be amiss, and the game should function without instabilities.

Also keep DynDOLOD in mind. Reinstall (with an incrementing number in the mod name) for each profile where new environment assets are added (such as with REGS). Don't copy and then try to update it. You get errors constantly of assets not belonging and such.

Pack: REGS

Besides a few areas (which are noted in the REGS guide), I installed REGS exactly as stated by the REGS manual.

A few notes:

- The final installation will not use Enhanced Lighting and FX. You could leave out ELFX and all related patches entirely at this point if you want.

- Realistic Room Rental: Requiem is not compatible with Realistic Room Rental Enhanced. I did not installed RRR at all.

- Expanded Towns and Cities: If you don't use RRR, then you SHOULD use the Inn's Option in Expanded Towns and Cities!!! Otherwise Inns are boring.

- Immersive College of Winterhold: Don't install CWI Improved NPC's option as there are incompatibilities with Requiem (or, install it, but when you install Requiem, re install without that option)

- I did not install the final Immersion breaking mods. Those are listed as optional by REGS under Gameplay - Affecting Quests anyways. (the space travel mod, Spectraverse, and Spellmaking in skyrim)

- Live Another Life: Yes, its not a REGS mod, but if you are modding and testing the game, then it is invaluable. REGS also has a special note related to Live Another Life and Helgen reborn. Quote: "When you wish to start Helgen Reborn, ensure that you have talked to the Whiterun Guards (yes, seriously) and played the game (or waited) at least 4 days after that. Verify there are bandits in Helgen. Make sure you do that before talking to the guy at Falkreath. " Follow the warning or bad stuff happens :)

Pack: Weather and Lighting:

Originally I did install this pack as stated. I have since switched to Lumen ENB, so most of the mods listed in Weather and Lighting have been uninstalled.

Most notable: Enhanced Lighting and FX, Sounds of Skyrim, and ALL Climates of Tamriel and related mods. That had the side effect of removing a very large number of esp's, which helped make room for more stuff.

I must give lots of credit to the author of Weather and Lighting mods for all the other mods besides CoT, SoS, and ELFX, which I am using.

The only problem I had with the set up was primarily centered around ELFX and some light toggle/flicker. Other than that, my preference was for how Lumen ENB did the lighting. Otherwise, its your choice. You may have to combine some more mods to make room for all the extra ESP's that come with CoT though.

Current Weather and Lighting set up:

- Lumen ENB Performance Edition

- Enhanced ENB Night Eye https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50731/?

The assets are required for the Lumen ENB night eye to work. Don't need to run the installer or anything (already integrated in Lumen ENB), just load the EnhancedENBNightEye.esp just above the STEP Patches.

- Skyrim Particle Patch for ENB

- Watercolor for ENB and Realistic Water Two

- True Storms - Thunder and Rain Redone

- True Storms - LumenWeather Compatibility Patch

- Ethereal Clouds

- Ethereal Cosmos

- Lorkhans Vision - Night Sky V2

- Moon Glow

- Morning Fogs Refined

- Real Snow Flakes

- Skygazer 2k HD Constellations (Less Bright No Nebulae)

Set up note for Lumen ENB (or any ENB apparently): SET YOUR IN GAME BRIGHTNESS TO 0!!!!! So I made lots of posts earlier on the Requiem forum about my ENB not working. The problem was I never set my in game brightness to 0, which of course left me with a white haze over my game, and all shadows too bright... Lumen is great when you have your settings correct. :)

Pack: Survival

Primary deviation from this pack was not installing Subliminal Traps (the author notes you don't need it if you install Requiem), and Better Fast Travel which I replaced with "Better Fast Travel - Carriages and Ships - Overhauled.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15508

Otherwise I used stuff as it was specified.

Pack: War Ensemble

Installed everything. Primary change is in the load order, where I place the Civil Ware Overhaul.esp after the STEP patch esp's, just before the TES5Merged.esp (which goes just in-front of Requiem.esp)

Let Loot sort that now. All seems to work, but i have not played through the Civil War yet, so you will have to wait until I got 2 - 3 hundred hours to spare (won't be any time soon with work and all)

Otherwise, all as the instructions say.

Pack: Requiem

Stuff gets shaky here. Everything up to this point seems to work well. I played the game a bit in its pre Requiem state, and never had instabilities (Paypurs logs were clear). Everything was happen with the world of Skyrim. But you can't (in my humble opinion) play Skyrim without Requiem, so off we go.

My approach to requiem was to start with the information on the Pack: Requiem page. This page might be somewhat (rather) out of date, but it contains the core starting point for figuring out what needs patching. By looking at all listed patches, as well at the dependencies of the provided STEP - Requiem Patch, I had a sound starting point.

Mod Ordering:

I did try to set up LOOT, but eventually just gave up. LOOT can't order Requiem and its patches. I still use LOOT to order non Requiem mods. Select all Requiem mods (ie Requiem.esp and all mods below), right click > lock load order. Then run LOOT, let it sort, Apply changes. Now when you exit, all the locked mods stay in place, but everything pre Requiem will be sorted. Make sure to unlock the Requiem mods or you can't adjust them manually.

Extra mods according to my personal preference (and because I just can't help but tempt fate)

Extensible Follower Framework

(compatibility collection) https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/62188

3DNPCEFF.esp (interesting NPC and EFF patch). comes from the Interesting NPC web site.

Follower Live Package

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56850/

- grab the EFF version.

This mod expands the AI functionality of other follower mods. The combat AI provided by this mod actually seems to work. Meaning that my mage follower will actually use magic, and heal me and my other followers during combat. This is a rather complex mod, with a "HUGE" number of options.

In the MCM setup section, I outline some basic settings for FLP that simplify things. Once you have the simple set up working, then you can go back and expand as you see fit.

EFF patches (to make it work well with EFF)

Immersive Armor and Immersive Weapons. This could either be awesome, or could cause me way more trouble than this is worth. That said, adding the hundreds of new armor and weapons, what could possibly go wrong.

Real Shelter: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52612/?

I install this mod after everything else (yes, even after DynDOLOD. the RealShelter_ETAC13.esp, RealShelterJKLargeCities.esp, and RSPatch.esp are loaded last, even after DynDOLOD.esp

Better Vampires (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9717/?)

---or---

Vampiric Thrist (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24222/?)

Each has a Requiem patch, so make sure you use it.

Either seems to work, though you want the Alternate start Live another life as a vampire, it's glitched. If you really want it, you need to do some console magic:

- hit ~

- select the vampire attacking you

- type: "stopcombat" ENTER

- type: setrelationshiprank player 3" ENTER

(ref https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/478081-make-npc-friendly-need-help-fixing-bugged-quest/ )

That should allow you to continue from that location as you want

Other option if you have death alternative installed, is to find some vampires, be defeated by them, and then follow that quest line (there is a mod that lets you start from the death alternative - captured quest lines. They are hard as level 1 though)

Merging Mods

space is tight for esp's, so some stuff needs to be merged.

If you don't know how to merge mods, you will need to look it up to know more. A quick run through:

- Start TES5Edit, and select only the mods to merge

- Select (using shift) all the mods to merge

- Right click, > run script > Merge Script

- if there are ANY errors, then don't save, and try a different combination.

If you have never merged esp's before, I think you need to download the script. Can't remember where I found it though.

ETaC patches. The following can be merged to save 4 slots:

- ETAC - Complete EWDR Patch.esp

- ETAC - Complete LoS Patch.esp

- ETAC - Complete BFT Patch.esp

- ETAC - Complete CRF Patch.esp

- ETAC - Complete ORS Patch.esp

You can't merge - ETAC - Complete NoSnow Patch.esp because other stuff needs it (and can't see it if it is merged)

General merged patch (to make room for more esp's)

These esp's seem to be safe to merge (nothing noted on them, and no problems that I've found/noticed)

- iHUD.esp

- Beards.esp

- Brows.esp

- Rainbows.esp

- ShootingStars.esp

- DragonShoutVoice.esp

- SMDropLitTorch.esp

- WM Trap Fixes.eps

- MoonGlow.esp

TES5Edit Patch:

Load all non Requiem mods in TES5Edit (uncheck Requiem.esp and everything below it). Once they load, right click on any mod > Other > Create Merged Patch.

Give it the name TES5Merged

- Name the mod whatever you want, but the esp should be named so LOOT picks it up.

Still in TES5Edit:

Open the TES5Merged.esp

- Remove any item that has LEVELED in the name (Leveled Item, Leveled NPC, etc.), or you get problems with the Requiem Reqtificator later.

Save the mod

Go to the overwrite mod (in MO) and creat a mod (with the MO Profile noted). Keep that particular build of the TES5Edit Patch only for that profile, making a new mod each time you make a new profile. Otherwise your previous profiles will not load, so what would be the point of profiles then.

Patching Routine

(almost) every time you change stuff, you need to re run all these patches. Of course you don't necessarily need to run them all. DynDOLOD only needs to be run when you make changes (that you want to see) to the environment, but you should re run them all when you are planning to do a play through, and to avoid bugs.

MAJOR NOTE: For those of you using Mod Organizer (which should be EVERYBODY!!!), NEVER overwrite your patches. A patch belongs to a specific profile. Name a patch according to the profile it belongs to: if you use numbers, then the patch has that number in its name, so that you only load it for that profile. Yes you will end up with a (very) long list of patches, but if you do not do this, then you will break your previous profiles, and will NOT be able to load previous profiles for de bugging purposes. This takes only a few seconds each time you patch, but is well worth it later:

This is just a condensed version of what is found in the STEP instructions with some of my personal notes(https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9.2#2.N._Patches) Note no bashed patch due to Requiem.

1) Run TES5Merged Patch (everything except Requiem mods)

Remove any item with "leveled" in the name

2) Dual Sheath Redux (Edit: removed old fix no longer needed)

3) Run FNIS

4) Reqtificator

if you select "NO" for the back up file, you get the option for not using it (only if you are starting a new game).

If you are NOT starting a new game, make a copy of the Reqtificator patch (For the Indifferent), update the number for the new profile, and then update that patch. Otherwise you break your game.

5) DynDOLOD (only run if I make changes to the landscape)

Re-installed the STEP Texture Compilation (to see if it was modified by DynDOLOD)

6) Real shelter (only run if I make changes to the landscape)

Game Crashes I came across

Game Crashes when you use the bed when finishing another life:

- in enblocal.ini: UserdefferedRendering = true was the culprit.

I had changed this to true to enhance the graphics. Changing it to false allowed the game to work again.

Major CTD bug...

I decided to give my follower a torch. No idea if this is truly the source of the bug, because for a short while, everything was ok. But then I started to get CTD's, one after the other, I just could not seem to continue. After looking at the Papyrus logs, I noted some torch drop thing spam, so I removed my followers torch, and poof, no more CTD. Kinda disappointed though, was nice to have the follower holding the torch.

CTD when exiting dungeon

I entered white river watch ( for the 10th time) and this time, for what ever reason, the game decided to CTD every time I exited. Could not for the life of me figure it out at first. i loaded a save game, traveled back to the location, and again the game CTD when I would enter, and then exit. Next when I reloaded my save, I also got an immediate CTD. It wasn't until I loaded an earlier save, and this time did not loot some bodies on the way to the cave that everything started working again. For some reason, looting the corpses causes a problem. They had been killed several days before, so that might have something to do with it. Never seen this crash before.

MCM Start up Guide

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Users: Every time the game is run, the chargen extension from this mod will generate .tri files in a meshes/cache folder that will be written to Overwrite. These .tri files may safely be deleted. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lanterns of Skyrim, STEP recommends changing following settings:

Check every

Default: 5 secs

STEP: 60 secs

This will change how often the script checks the lanterns. Increasing this will prevent the script from running so often.

Enable lanterns along roads

Default: ticked

STEP: unticked

This will disable lanterns along the roads in Skyrim which returns those area to a more vanilla and lore-friendly state.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lightning During Thunder Storms (Minty Lightning),

STEP recommends changing following settings:

Lightning Config - Fork Lightning Options

Hostile

Default: unticked

STEP: ticked

This will make the lightning strikes that hit the ground hostile.

This means they can hurt you, NPCs and creatures. This is more realistic. If you don't like this, leave it unticked.

Frequency Delay

Default: 5 secs

STEP: 25 secs

This will reduce the frequency at which these ground strikes occur.

STEP has increased this setting to provide a more realistic feel.

The new setting will produce approximately one strike every 25 secs instead of one strike every 5 secs.

Leave all other settings unchanged. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Auto Ammo Unequip, STEP recommends changing following settings:

Follower Addon

Default: unticked

STEP: ticked

This will add the mod's functionality to your followers as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Follower Live Framework

Lots of stuff to customize here

this mod provides a huge range of customization to the AI of your followers.

Shared inventory lets you keep in one place common items (like potion ingredients) which are auto moved to your inventory when at a crafting station.

Disable follower meals, or they eat everything quickly

Bind the "Move to shared inventory" key to something convenient. Then, just before crafting, pushed the button, if it says moved to shared inventory, hit it again, and it moves the crafting stuff to your inventory, then craft. After crafting move stuff back.

FLP Advised starting settings:

"For the New FLP Player, FLP Settings can be over liberal with relax and search actions at default, from the very start. Many Members that use FLP as with myself, do ask new Members to tone the FLP default settings down, by: MCM FLP/Settings/ [Presets] to -Passive- With { Passive }, Average, Agressive or Default Presets: Once the new FLP Member also understands that the Players equipable and assignable [FLP-Stop Search] Inventory Token, when used as a ring will turn -off- FLP Searching and Gathering. This [FLP-Stop search] can also be expanded on within MCM. When we want them to resume Gathering - unequipt the [FLP-Stop Search] inventory Token. Drawing weapon usually will interrupt searching. Setting of distance: Close, Med or Far, also sets there sandboxing range. When in any Town with [ Act Separately ] -ON- Followers will wander around the Town and transact.  After knowimg this, go ahead and experament with FLP settings. In summary: Once those -few- Settings achieved and the Inventory [FLP-Stop Search] Token equipped - Our FLP Followers will not run about "Searching" nearly as much."

Better Vampires (pick ONE Vampire Mod)

Most settings are to preference.

Vampire night vision workaround: with lumen, the spell darkvision is fixed, but the Better Vampires vampire vision still does not work. Until I find a fix: map the better vampire vampire vision ability to a key of your choice (I picked -), open your enb (shift Enter), remove the modifier key (set shift to no key), and set enb toggle to your vampire vision key (-).

Also make sure you change key editor (Enter) because you just removed the modifier, and every time you hit enter the enb window opens

(where I learned of this workaround)

Next Steps from here. Finally time to play...

So far, the game has been far more stable than previously, and considering how many mods are installed, I'm somewhat amazed it works at all. Some of my previous modding attempts with a fraction of the number of mods ended in disaster (ie the game "Played" for 20-30 hours, then a bugged quest triggered, and everything broke).

If anyone else tries to install similar to what I have, please let me know how it goes, and if you do things differently, I would like to know to improve my install as well. I can't possibly find all the bugs by myself after all.
