Changing Timescale

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Has anyone played with changing the timescale in Skyrim? Is it safe to use to a certain point?

I'm finding the days to go by too fast while playing the game it's really breaking my immersion factor.

I set the timescale to 6 and what a difference... Seems about right game time vs real time. Took ~1 hour game time to go from Helgen to Riverwood and talk to Gerdur.

That would be 6 game minutes for every rl minute.

I just need to know if it's safe or not in the long term.

Basically vendors will never restock and monsters will never respawn, and bodies will never clear unless you change their timers accordingly as well, other than that you are probably ok.

I change it to 60000 when I want to pass 31 days, I been forgetting to add that to the troubleshooting guide for a while now...

Hrm, are you sure? I figure it would just take longer for these things to happen. Either that or you need to wait the appropriate # of days?

I've found a few posts that say timescale change is OK for questing, etc until it goes below 5... after that it starts getting a little wonky.

I'm worried about it so I'll probably just leave the default but I really hate it. lol

I've had a lower timescale than the default since Skyrim came out and have yet to have a problem with it. You will not even notice the vendors. What you will notice is the nights lasting a while longer since nothing is open to sell stuff, so you'll probably use the waiting function a bunch.

Or perhaps actually having a use for the inns and taverns of Skyrim. :)
