Pretty self explanatory. Replaces all of the fences in Skyrim with new ones. Is just a mesh replacement, so no need for esp. Author even says that they are going to look into collision so arrows and what not will go through as appropriate.

Tried it in game, does what it says. This mesh essentially isn't subject to the crawling jaggies that you would get with the default / SMIM stuff. I'm only using EdgeAA in ENB and the result is 10x better than EdgeAA + Temporal AA combined. I guess it most probably decreases polycount somewhat too compared to the SMIM stuff, which is certainly welcome in Riverwood using ETaC for instance... It doesn't look as good or immersive to me as the SMIM meshes do, but I'll most probably be keeping it, the absence of these annoying jaggies is just too good to pass up :)

Step recommends hiding the fence textures from Real Wood for some reason.

That was because the texture was better in whatever other mod was providing it for the original fence styles. You can unhide it if you like it better or use this mod. One thing I don't like about this is it's based off a more modern design. If you start searching around you'll find the Skyrim fences are fairly accurate as to what one would find from the period (debates about time periods aside). Such as this reproduction from the Irish National Heritage Park:

about the pic:

IRISH NATIONAL HERITAGE PARK

Wexford is home to the 35-acre Irish National Heritage Park. The Irish have been around for 9,000 years, and this place allows visitors to see how people lived, worshiped and buried their dead, from the coming of man to the arrival of the Normans in the 12th century. The 16 archaeological and historical reconstructions are all located in their natural settings. We saw how the Celtic, Norman and Viking settlers left their mark through their dwellings, cooking and eating habits. If you’re in Wexford, it’s worth a quick tour.

This mod is great as for what it does. But I mentioned on the mod page in the POSTS section that there are a lot of places where the bottom fence cross posts clip into the ground and in some case are not there. Thus, showing only one set of crossbars: the top set. In that respect, the fence becomes mostly useless. As I said on the page, its a great mod and a great idea, however, it nearly defeats the purpose of having fences at all. Small animals should (but wont) be able to sneak right through the fences and the larger ones that the fence would still potentially keep out should just topple over if they pushed against it (which, again, it wont). So while its definitely a great idea it make the fence lose its purpose.

Imho many vanilla fences didn't serve any reason from the get-go. There are only a few incidences where they actually have a gate and have animals or vegetables inside. Mostly they seem to rather be cosmetic items than anything else.

Some one should make blank mesh!

Thanks for reminding me I made some HQ textures for these from 3D an age ago. I sent them off to Ewi, but all they needed was a diffuse wood texture making. What has been said here is what I originally thought, so I am not sure if these fit or not now. Why are the originals bad with AA anyway? Is it on the alpha parts or the 3D weave? On the ones I made I took the 3D weave over and over, then rendered it onto a flat mesh, and transfered that to vanilla with better alpha blending. I'm not sure how much this will help jaggies, but it will blend with the 3D weave much much better without all that extra overhead too.

I just wish I could use the SMIM textures without crazy flickering.  Only vanilla works for me on my 780 sli setup.  So having some other higher quality "lore friendly" fences would be a welcome addition.

Ewi released the woven fence mod on Nexus. Sorry I can't seem to copy the url as it's messing up, but it is one of the latest files. He had to hide it for a while becuase there was a mesh error followed by some amazing rude comments, but it is fixed now. Tell us what you guys think in another thread or something.
