Thanks for STEP and particularly this new version, I've never seen Skyrim look so good! However I have encountered one thing so far that seems a bit odd and thought I'd raise it here as a potential bug. The screenshot at the link below shows a bright area on a rockface following it being hit by a dragon's flame attack. http://steamcommunit...ls/?id=95441688 I've seen similar, smaller-scale bright spots like this after using my Flame spell, and I don't recall this being a normal after-effect of these spells and attacks. It has been a while since I played, so I could be wrong, but it definitely seems out of place. Is this actually an issue and does anyone have any idea on what I might have done wrong with my installation?

Uninstall Deadly Spell Impacts and then reinstall it, you are missing the textures from it somehow.

Well, after a full day of tinkering I'm happy to report that this time I believe I got it working properly and it looks gorgeous indeed. I'm about to start a new game now and just wanted to say thanks again for your awesome work. Keep it up! (and sorry for the irrelevant posts in what's essentially a bug report thread)

Here is my results after running STEP through TES5Edit, this test does not check logic, version, or compatibility!  Just that the file itself is a good foundation for those other things.

Don't panic, this is not impending disaster or anything, just that some of these are not good choices for STEP going forward and you should know what we found.  This is generally not the kind of errors that are gonna cause save corruptions (unless more than a couple hundred errors) more likely its sucking performance and stability.  Also on error numbers, be aware that a single problem can cause multiple unique errors.

What we are dealing with at the base of Jenga pile.  Seems like a lot at first glance, but considering there have probably been upwards of a million edits each by dozens of developers using dozens of different CK versions its actually not too bad.
Vanilla-You have to use these :P

Here are the worst offenders, #1 is the worst mod tested with 2872 errors and the rest are in order of structural errors.
This is the do not use list.

Here are the 2nd tier of offenders, #1 has 14 errors and the rest are in order of structural errors.
This is the strong warning against use list.

Here are the 3rd tier of offenders, #1 has 6 errors and the rest are in order of structural errors.
This is the not recommended until fixed list.

Here are the winners in the pass fail test - no errors found in any of these.
This is the safe to use list.

I think that the the 2.2 mod list is a good "ignorance" sample with respect to this error type (just over 10% STEP mods with errors) compared to the overall mod population of 20% with structural errors.

So are those mods being removed/replaced? Are those errors damaging enough to warrant a quick removal or are they not that harmful?

Well the do not use list is pretty explicit :P The rest is up to you.

As for STEP 2.3 they will be removed from consideration until the mod authors fix them.  Most of them can be easily fixed in 15 min or less.

I highly doubt any of the mod authors will do anything, unless we start informing them right away of the issues.

Just the Hardcore plugin by the way.

The rest works just fine (I'm using the Hazardous Dungeons).

Someone (preferentially someone who knows specifically which errors) should really contact those mod authors (directly by PM) and alert them of the fact.

@Arny I was experiencing that as well. Mine was failure to RTFM and I checked the Deadly Spell Impacts - Two Fire esp without copying over the texture files. I assume those errors are UDRs and ITMs? Where did you get TES5EDIT?

Anyone with some good diplomatic skills is welcome to do so, I find myself a bit abrasive on these occasions so I leave it to you guys.  If I have the time (not likely) I'll fix them myself and PM to each author.

Made it myself :P  Unfortunately it doesn't fix yet, just using it for batch testing.  You can actually get the same results using TESdump.

I don't know the first thing about mod errors or UDR or whatchamacallit much less what errors are present. So... uh... yeah... uh... not me :whistling:
