Unable to tag new mod threads with Nexus Category

Xaviien

Question

When creating a new thread in the mod forum, there is a rules and conditions page that shows up as follows.

This is a GREAT feature, but the rules don't exactly match the conditions of creating a thread.

Before creating a thread here:

  • Make mods easier to track
    • Tag mods with their Nexus category(ies).
    • For non-Nexus mods, use the dev's/mod author's given title and the 'best' tag(s).

This isn't possible, as the "Topic Tags" only allows selecting one of 9 options, as opposed to a thread in this forum, which allows free typing to add tags.

Not sure if this is intentional, but I believe the rules and conditions should have the two lines in blue removed if it is.

Prefixes are limited to 5 options, regular tags are limited to 9 options.

When you click "add" it opens a dropdown with the same options as the prefixes, plus utility, accepted, testing, Fear & Loathing and Revisited. When adding tags in this thread, there is no "add" button in the Topic Tags box.

That's what I get for trying to have a conversation from my phone haha. I'll explain better this time, using real screenshots.

Here are the options when creating/editing a mod thread. It's a drop down box where the ONLY tags that can be chosen are: Fear & Loathing in New Vegas, mod, Skyrim Revisited, utility, accepted, testing, oblivion, Morrowind, Fallout 3, Fallout NV or Skyrim. There is no option to tag a thread with the mod category at all. It's impossible.

When creating/editing a normal thread, such as this one, you can actually type directly into the tags box, and as you can see by the screenshot, it's possible to tag a thread with absolutely anything, such as mod author, category etc.

The Mod forum is set to a closed system for tags, so you can only set one pre-defined prefix, and apply only the associated list of tags. I'm not sure who added the two lines you mention above, but you are right in that they need to be removed. Either that, or it is intended now for folks to apply tags adhoc, in which case the ability to add tags needs to be opened up.

I'll defer to Z on what his intended plan of action is on this so this can be straightened out.
