Where to begin?

Question

So I have been going thru the STEP website and lost where I am to actually start downloading so I don't have conflicts. If it depends on what I am trying to do. I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 16 GB of Ram and 2TB SSD. I just need a website list of how to install the right order. I have looked at 2.2.9 Project page but it goes into Extended and what not and I am not sure if I do all the Step project first or not. Sorry if this has been answered in the past but I haven't seen a direct answer as of yet. Thanks in advanced.

Core and Extended are on the same page. Everything you need to know is either on that page or is linked to by that page. You'll need to read it carefully.

Thank you I didn't fully read because I didn't see the greenish bar :D. Thanks for your help aparently when I installed I did both. No wonder it took so long. Thanks I thought it was its own page :)

The STEP Project page here: https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9

Has links to nexus download pages of the mods that are in STEP Core and STEP Extended.

Also contains instructions on what to do to get started etc. Start there and read through it.

Essentially it's designed that STEP Core gives a good solid base for you to mod further from. STEP Extended is CORE plus some extra mods. Once again, you can branch out from there. Add more mods of your own choice or look at some of the STEP Packs.

My advice would be this: If you're new, not 100% sure where you want to go yet, go through and follow STEP Core. That will get you a stable start. On top of that it also exposes you to all the tools and a lot of the techniques used in adding mods.

Then play with that for a while. See if there's something you'd like to improve, etc. Then you could look at Extended.

Hope that helps.

No. Decide if you're going Core or Extended, and install them all in order, following the instructions carefully.

You can install Core then go back and install Extended, but no point doing something twice when you can do it right the first time.

If you've already done almost all of CORE, I'd now proceed thusly:

Leave the CORE profile alone in MO, and copy it to a new profile called EXTENDED.

Then follow the Extended instructions. Drag and drop stuff to fit the suggested install order and you should be golden.

This way, you have both options. If you want to play with just the CORE mods, you select that profile when starting a play through.

If you want to try Extended, then you select that profile. This is one of the good things about Mod Organizer, you can do things like this, and keep each profile's saves separate.

If you install STEP Extended, then by necessity it will include STEP Core. You don't have to do both: you can install only STEP Core, and ignore Extended. You might consider this easier: it will certainly require less of a time investment.

I have put in the time already for Core until a system wipe so I didn't want to double up or CTD with extended. I need the link if you have it because all I have is core and I did a google search and only had old videos of how to install.

Core mods are indicated by the presence of a green-ish vertical bar in the row at the immediate left-hand column of the table.
