I usually do not post many links to stuff I put on the internet, this is merely to show how well it works with follower feature mods in regards to followers riding horses.

I use Immersive Horses with Craftable Horse Barding, and they work well together.

If you are a smith you can craft horse armor (or buy horse armor from a stables).

 

IH lets you find abandoned horses and claim ownership of them, which I find useful.

 

Immersive Horses used to be tagged for testing. I see the 'testing' tag has disappeared, but there was no explanation in this thread - what happened?

I cant get passed the attack while on horse in the quest in convenient horses.  Being on horse and the faster movement, the game crashes every time on convenient horses to going to try this one.
