Oh ho ho this is golden.

I have been trying to sort out S.T.E.P. 2.2.9 with out having access to a few mods that are being updated or different like Ruffled Feather. I've been playing around with it for ages now and the missus us wondering if I'll ever actually play the game!

Just went to check something on the wiki page and noticed the update.

Awesome awesome!

Thank you. Hopefully I'll get to play Skyrim soon and get as many game hours in as I have modding it. ROFL!

Is Relighting Skyrim + ELE much better than ELFX? I have been using ELFX for a few months, but I see that STEP has chosen another mod (a combo actually). Is it objectively better/more successful for lighting?

STEP's decision for RS+ELE was to stay with our Mandates. RS stays far closer to vanilla and basically just provides corrections and fixes to the vanilla lights. ELE - Interiors does some of the same things for the interior lighting plus a bit more, making interiors far more realistic in how light actually works. This combination is perfect for STEP due to it's vanilla friendliness. ELFX on the other hand adds tons of "artistic" and "stylistic" changes which take it too far from vanilla to be used by STEP. In the end, if you like ELFX better, keep it. The RS+ELE combination is simply what works for STEP.

The thing ELE and RS does right is the different colors of light. All the other mods choose one hue for all light and stick to it through out the world. With ELE+RS you'll get red, yellow, and blue hues spread around which is much more how it should be.

Judassem,

I've been wrestling with the decision of whether or not to go with RS + ELE or to stick with ELFX.  In the end, I'm sticking with ELFX, only because I use the ELFX Enhancer part of it because I prefer pitch black darkness in appropriate places.  You won't get that with the STEP lighting mods.  So basically, I would say that if you like very dark dark spots in the game, then stick with ELFX + ELFX Enhancer.  If you don't care for very dark dark spots, but still want to greatly enhance the lighting in the game then maybe go with RS + ELE.
