Going back to ELFX from STEP 2.2.9.1

Judassem

Question

Hi!

A few weeks ago, I upgraded my STEP 2.2.9 setup to 2.2.9.1 and I'm very happy with it, except the new lighting system. I was using ELFX before the update and I thought it was perfect. But Relighting Skyrim also looked very good from the screenshots, so I gave it a try. However, the dungeons are way too dark for my taste now (even though I chose the correct options for brightness during its setup). My question is, is there a safe way to turn back to ELFX from Relighting Skyrim + ELE combo? The STEP Extended Patch uses ELE, so I thought a simple uninstallation could be problematic, as the patch is going to miss one of its masters. What should I do?

Clean the patch from any references to RS / ELE

Clean its masters

Uninstall RS & ELE

Install ELFX

Run LOOT

Carry over changes from ELFX to the patch

It will probably take a few hours though, especially if you're not used to this kind of stuffs, there is a lot of cells to check.

Thanks a lot but I've never done that before. If this was Morrowind, I could do much more complicated tasks than that, but I have little experience with Skyrim modding, so I doubt I would be able to forward any changes from one esp to another.

The next version of the patches will have the lighting records removed so that STEP is more compatible with user's custom lighting solutions which differs from STEP's.

Then it seems I'll have to wait for the next patch. The darkness in dungeons is not unbearable anyway, just a nuisance. Any ETA for the next patch? Edited by Judassem
