MO Appcrash due to Qt5Gui.dll

dx1

Question

Hello everyone,

first I'd like to say this is no bug report because the problem seems to be completly on my end. I repeatedly get an Appcrash with "Fault Module Name: Qt5Gui.dll". I run MO 1.3.8 on Windows 7 64, installed it with and without admin rights and tried to run it normal and "as admin". Doesn't matter.

I close the program → appcrash.
I download something from the nexus while MO is running → appcrash.
I download something from the nexus without MO running → MO starts → no appcrash.

While I can just close the window regarding the crash and continue to install and manage mods, I better do not download another file while MO is running. I would get another appcrash.

Yesterday I copied all my downloads from NMM to MO/downloads and started to query infos from the nexus, sorted some out, downloaded updated versions and so on, just closing any appcrash-info that popped up. This resulted in a freeze of the program. After kicking the process from Task Manager and restarting MO I realized all downloads and mods were gone. I found the whole bunch of them in the bin.

In case my writing is hard to understand, I recorded what I described: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBxU1AqEDTM Nevermind I did highlight the wrong line in the first appcrash window.

I hope you can help me figuring out what's the problem with this dll. It's the one that came with the installer, I did not deselect the option to install the QT-dlls.

The problem still exisits with MO 1.3.9 — also whenever I click a download link on the nexus pages Windows asks me if I want to start MO, even if it's up already, like it does with 1.3.8.

I seem to be the only person on the internet to experience this kind of problem, which I find highly unlikely. I still think there's something messed up within my windows installation itself, but I can't find out what. When I search for 'faulting module name qt5gui.dll' I find no useful informations.

EDIT

Okay, I created a .dmp but was to stupid to install the correct symbols to have a look at it in windbg. Then I found: https://blog.inventic.eu/2014/08/qt5-application-crashed-with-error-0xc0000005/ Maybe one of you can help me sort this out? I now looks to me it is a bug inside QT5 and I have to post a bug report on the MO bug tracker.

Hello,

I'm getting right about the same error each time I close MO and/or click on download link at Nexus. How can I fix it?

Qt5Gui.dll is version 5.4.1 provided with MO installation. All the rest appears to work normally. This is the only thread I found related to Qt5Gui.dll.

Please, help or point me where to find a solution.

Try moving MO away from any UAC folders such as where you currently have it installed.

Create a new folder directly off the root of C:, or another drive if you have one, and install it there.

This issue was resolved many months ago and it isn't likely that it has sneaked back into the code again.

It did not help. I have only 1 SSD drive with 1 partition. I switched off UAC - it didn't help, I moved MO to the root folder of C drive and it didn't help too. Any other ideas what to do or where to look for?

Sure, I did the search as a first means. There are two more different versions of Qt5Gui.dll in other folders. But in the error it points to "Faulting module path: C:\MO\dlls\Qt5Gui.dll", version: 5.4.1.0 and not to other folders, versions. The other software is needed for me, while it is not started when MO runs.

Anyway, I tried now to hide other Qt5Gui.dll files by renaming and archiving them, it did not help.
I even uninstalled other software and there is only 1 version of Qt5Gui.dll now, which is in MO folder, it did not help, still the error is there:

Faulting application name: ModOrganizer.exe, version: 1.3.11.0, time stamp: 0x55eaff0b
Faulting module name: Qt5Gui.dll, version: 5.4.1.0, time stamp: 0x5554efe6

Sorry but I've got nothing to offer.

Just to check, this a version from Nexus and not from some other place?

The checksums for that file are as follows:

CRC - CBD98A9E
MDF - 2FF22FF110ECADD929B13EC6931B29C1
SHA1 - 3636879D02536F121398BB1AA15A59BE207394CF

If your checksums match then unfortunately I don't know what to suggest, but if they differ then I suggest you grab the Nexus copy and use that.

I downloaded Installer from Nexus originally, which file's checksums should match the listed ones?

Mod Organizer v1_3_11 installer-1334-1-3-11.exe ?

Mod Organizer v1_3_11-1334-1-3-11.7z ?

or ModOrganizer.exe itself ?

Anyway, I downloaded exe and 7z files for v1.3.11 anew from Nexus:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1334/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D1334&pUp=1

and none of them nor ModOrganizer.exe have checksums (assuming CRC is CRC32 and MDF is MD5 above) matched to the listed. Which file should fit these checksums and where to get it?

I see. For Qt5Gui.dll 2 checksums match and 1 is not. Here is what I have in MO folder and the same in files downloaded from Nexus.

CRC32: 9E8AD9CB
CRC64: D4701C47476314FC
MD5: 2FF22FF110ECADD929B13EC6931B29C1
SHA-1: 3636879D02536F121398BB1AA15A59BE207394CF
