Dawnguard Rewritten - Arvak by Oriius

Tired of Bethesda's plastic skeletal horse?

Our little demon horse is a bit of a shambles; textures and meshes which are incompatible with one another, a missing alpha channel (which you could tell was supposed to be there just by looking at the model), and an cube map that makes it resemble an action figure. Arvak Reborn features new textures and an altered mesh for improved compatibility.

Arvak Reborn: now with 100% less action figure.

Comparisons:

Vanilla -> Undead (Main File) -> Atronach (Optional) -> Gamejam (Optional) -> Soul Cairn (Optional)

These are all the "Extreme-Definition Textures"(i.e. 2048) which I wouldn't call extreme personally... can you believe vanilla is only 512?

I highly recommend this one. Obviously "Soul Cairn" is the closest to Vanilla.

Now has a NMM installer. Need to get a wizard up and running for that one don't we?

This will be a easy one, at least compared to Closer Quivers and Longer Arrows (god, that took a while). Already in a BAIN friendly format, just need to write the wizard and I would be done.

Also - one more thing. The mod change it's name to "Dawnguard Rewritten - Arvak" - shouldn't we change the name of the mod here to match?

(By the way, why do I think that the vanilla Arvak could have came out of a "Inflate-Your-Own-Skeletal-Horse" kit? Then again, if someone actually made a "Inflate-Your-Own-Skeletal-Horse" kit, it would be the coolest thing since cool itself. The other thing that it looks like to me is a Poundland action figure, but that's much less cool.)

Well.. the author has released a new version of his mod - apparently, it includes new textures and a ESP (for a horse saddle, I presume?). It also includes a Wrye Bash wizard, however, the author has heavily (and I do mean heavily) modfied it from my original version. There's also a classic version, which is basically the v1.02 version with the wizard installed (and slightly dodgy packing), for those who like the old mod as is. I'll probally discuss with the author about revising the installers to be clearer (as is, both are not very clear)

I have not finished the STEP process yet, but wondering if this is mod is okay wherever it is placed as long as its after the three master files?  At the moment it is just listed last.  Looks like just meshes and textures.  I imagine there will some more unrecognized plugins going through the process.  If anyone has any tips let me know.  Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by "three master files". With the STEP process, which uses loose files, meshes and textures are installed with "installation order" which is independent of "mod order" (mod order is the order in which esp/esm files are loaded). There are no "master files" in installation order.

The meshes and textures in Dawnguard Rewritten - Arvak have no conflicts with any of the STEP mods. Installing this late (vs. somewhat earlier) in installation order will not affect what gets loaded.

I meant when you click on the .esp wrye bash lists three masters (Skyrim.esm, Update.esm and Dawnguard.esm).  Thanks for the answer.

Wrye Bash only shows the esp/esm files that are masters for the esp/esm file. This mod does not have an esp/esm so there are no "master files" in the load order. Wrye Bash shows any conflicts in the "Conflicts" tab in the right window of the Installers tab; these are the conflicts that are relevant to any questions on Installation (Package) order.
