TES5Edit (by ElminsterAU)

You just need to copy that FormID and paste it into the FormID search text box, located in the upper-left corner of TES5Edit's main window, and hit return to go directly to view that record.

Or just hold Ctrl and double click on a FormID number in messages pane :)

Never ever remove masters manually from the plugin's header unless you need a broken useless plugin. Use script mentioned above to find what ties plugin to particular master file, resolve those records, and when nothing left in plugin that depends on a master, right click on it and select "Clean Masters".

To add to what Double-You said, there is a script included with TES5Edit that will list all records in a plugin which reference another specific (master) plugin.

The name of the script is List records referencing specific plugin.

In the left-hand pane of TES5Edit, right-click on the name of the plugin that you want to remove a master from, and select Apply Script in the pop-up contextual menu. Next, click the pop-up list button next to "Script:" to see the list of available scripts, and select List records referencing specific plugin. Then, click the [OK] button.

You will get a small dialogue box asking you to enter the Hexidecimal load order of references to search for. What you need to sype here is the load order prefix for the master plugin that you want to remove. For example, if you want to remove Dawnguard as a master to the plugin, look for the value in square brackets next to the name over in the left-hand pane of TES5Edit. In the case of using the unofficial patches, you should see [03] Dawnguard.esm, which means you want to type 03 in the scripts dialogue box.

Then click [OK] and TES5Edit's messages tab will output a list of any references to the plugin corresponding to the hexidecimal load order value that are are found in the plugin you ran the script on.

Each reference will list the EditorID (if there is one) and then the FormID for the record in which the master reference was found. You just need to copy that FormID and paste it into the FormID search text box, located in the upper-left corner of TES5Edit's main window, and hit return to go directly to view that record. It may start off showing you an instance of the record in an earlier-loading plugin, so over in the right-hand pane, find the column for the plugin you are working on removing masters from, and then right-click on the name of that plugin at the top of the column, and choose Jump to so that you select the override for that FormID in the plugin that you are working on.

Alternatively, you can manually search through the plugin you're working on to find each of the listed records in the messages tab.

Sorry if it sounds a bit complicated, but it is far far easier to find references to a master that you want to remove by using this script.

Thank you all for your help. I did it and then checked for errors just to be sure. Everything seems to be good.

Updated TES5Edit mod page

  • Changed download link to Github location for the latest release.
  • Moved links to the manuals and instructions to the Links.
  • Added instruction to extract the archive to desired location.

I would recommend users who have not cleaned Update.esm and DLC ESMs to reclean them, as I noticed it found more things to fix in the latest version.

I reset nvidia's global settings to factory. The only thing left in my bag of tricks is restarting :/

Its the ONLY application that had this and its only that top bar.

EDIT: updating windows to build 10162 fixed it which wasnt there earlier.

Hello to the community.

I was looking for an updated version of TESVEdit manual, because in that one I possess (PDF, white background...) there is not trace about a particular color combination in conflicts, that is purple background with dark violet text.

I have this occurrence in the KEYWORD section of some mods such as Weapons & Armor Fixes Remade, Clothing & Clutter Fixes. It seems that both these mods (and others) do not like the Keyword re-definition operated by the the STEP Extended Patch.esp which adds a postfix "_KRY" to each keyword.
I looked into the manual (that seems a bit outdated) but this particular color codes are not mentioned.

Thanks for any help.

Is there a way to apply filters to find what the differences are between to plugins? For example, I'm trying to find out what the differences are between main Jaggarsfeld file and the RLO version. I'm assuming for the RLO version they simply upped some light values. I'm also trying to find the difference between the main file an the CTD Fix optional file. I've been exploring and playing with the filters but haven't come up with anything useful. They say they removed a NIF from the CTD Fix optional, but I can't seem to find what they've deleted. The filters for xEdit are... ...confusing!  I simply what to compare then to see the differences in the records or if one plugin is missing something that the other has, etc.

TIA!

Is it suppose to filter everything that is the same/different and highlight it for you or something similar? I can click through the tree but it just looks like the basic information you get when you load both plugins; showing you the conflict data. I was expecting it to filter the results and highlight the differences like most "compare" options do in programs such as Notepad++. Am I missing something or this is just how it works?
