Cleaning and Inaccessible mods from nexus questions

1. Cleaning

Any mods tagged with cleaning I cleaned. However most plugins once a new mod is installed are dropped in the bottom of the xedit list, but not all. As i went if it wasnt obviously at the bottom with a simlar name to the mod I'd search the first couple words of the mod name and find it in the middle somewhere. Once i got past the half way point of the guide i realized that not all the mods marked for cleaning came with a single plugin, I noticed a mod I did also had the patch plugin esp listed as a well, and now im all panicked i missed a couple along the way. Will loot identify these? So prior or bashed patching can i run loot, check the list and compare to the step guide to see if the mod was marked for cleaning (Seems like not all cleanings are recommended). Or do i need to run down the whole list and reclean everything just to be sure. But what if the extra plugin in the list is from a patch merged in from a mod further down the list not marked for cleaning???

These mods are unavailable at the nexus. I imagine the protectron textures arent necessary but the patch mod seems pretty important. Can anyone with these help me out? Or can i run without for now until these come available, and stick them in after? I'm so close to done and Id hate to start a save, put in a bunch of time only to regret it later.

LOOT works with plugins, not mods, so it should identify all the plugins from mods that multiple plugins.

So prior or bashed patching can i run loot, check the list and compare to the step guide to see if the mod was marked for cleaning (Seems like not all cleanings are recommended).

A few mods intentionally use "Identical to master" records and these mods should not be cleaned. These mods are specifically identified in the guide. Mods listed as needing cleaning are one that benefit from cleaning the plugins. Plugins can be cleaned in any order since you need to close  and restart FO3Edit before you clean another plugin. The mods shown as needing cleaning are conservatively chosen since typically cleaning a plugin doesn't cause any problems, and the plugins that might have such problems are identified in the guide.

Or do i need to run down the whole list and reclean everything just to be sure.

No, there is no need to reclean anything you have cleaned already.

But what if the extra plugin in the list is from a patch merged in from a mod further down the list not marked for cleaning???

If you use the Merge Plugins tool you should first clean all the plugins included in the merged plugin that need cleaning merged plugin. If you later want to remerge the plugins then make sure that any plugins needing cleaning have been cleaned before the remerge, but you don't need to recelan any that you already cleaned.

There are very few if any mods that really need to be included. Even core mods can be excluded, although if these are excluded it will take more work to get a game that has reasonable balance. The 20th Century Weapons mods and the associated patches can be excluded; you will find some discussions on this in recent forum posts. While this mod has some useful weapons it introduces some problems that other users have discussed in the forum. The Protectron textures mod is nice but certainly not important. If it continues to not be available the mod that it replaced can be added back to the guide. You can also find the other mod in the changelog.

CRAFT is included with FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition. We will add a comment to the guide entry for FWE mentioning that iCRAFT is included.

Thanks for the reply. Just so happen to have the day off today so great time to finish this off.

Sounds like I'll have to go back and recheck the guide vs loot to make sure nothing was missed as far as cleaning is concerned.

As well as pull out any 20th century related mods and patches.
