TexGen 64 hangs

tesGamin

Question

I know I must have done something wrong but I don't see it.

I am trying to run TexGen 64 throu MO2 with the -sse command line var.  I start to get output but at the 16 sec mark I stop getting output and windows says it is not responding and it has 0% cpu usage.  I have left it alone for 45 min but no change.

The output on the screen is:

Processing 3 C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Tools\DynDOLOD\Edit Scripts\DynDOLOD\DynDOLOD_SSE_TexGen_noalpha_skyrimesm.txt

.

.

.

Combining 1 textures into textures\architecture\highrothgar\hhwin02noalpha_g.dds

What can I do to help debug this issue?

Thanks,

BJ

Hi! I know this is an old thread but I'm having similiar problem, always stuck when output screen says:

[02:16]     Creating C:\Modding\DynDOLOD\TexGen_Output\textures\lod\rubblepilelod.dds from 8 textures
[02:16]     Creating C:\Modding\DynDOLOD\TexGen_Output\textures\lod\riftenbrickinset01lod.dds from 4 textures
[02:16]     Creating C:\Modding\DynDOLOD\TexGen_Output\textures\lod\stockadewood01snowlod.dds from 1 textures
[02:17]     Creating C:\Modding\DynDOLOD\TexGen_Output\textures\dlc02\lod\dlc2road01ash01lod.dds from 4 textures

It's always on the same exact output screen, when creating something from dlc02, I already make sure that nothing blocked the app, I tried by launching it from the folder (not from MO2) and it only read vanilla load order and not my mod load order. So to check if the problem persist I still generate the TexGen and it works, somehow with my modlist the TexGen is not going anywhere, it hangs and stuck at mark minute 02:17 while creating the stuff as writed above, checked task manager there's no 'Taking your Firstborn' or 'TexConv', basically nothing about texgen is running in the background.

I had this problem now for around 5 days, tried leaving my system for 1-2 days thinking that might take a long time but still nothing changes. Redownloaded and Reinstalled the tools multiple times, including the necessary stuff (Microsoft visual something and other thing) multiple times, the problem persist. Is it because of my system? I use my laptop to do this, here's the system spec:
i7 8k, 1050ti, 16gb ram.

I can't play with ugly lod:' it killing me, DynDOLOD is my only hope, thank you in advance and I apologize for bad english.

*Image says elapsed time is 01:33 but trust me the system has been on for almost 3 days now XD it never moves.

Use DynDOLOD 3 Alpha https://stepmodifications.org/forum/topic/17510-dyndolod-300-alpha-111/

If the problem persists make a post to the DynDOLOD 3 Alpha thread, preferably with logs. The logs are saved when the program is/can be closed via 'X' top right.

From the DynDOLOD Standalone archive copy the content of the 'DynDOLOD' folder, which contains the files DynDOLOD.exe, TexGen.exe, DynDOLOD_QuickStart.html and the sub folders 'Docs' and 'Edit Scripts' with all their content into a new 'DynDOLOD' folder outside of special OS folders like 'Programs Files' or 'Program Files (x86)', the SteamApps or game folders and Mod Organizers virtual file structure.

Make sure OS, UAC, antivir or other third party programs are not blocking access to files and folders.

Thank you thank you!

It was Acronis.  Not truly an antivir but it does get cranky if a program creates/deletes files too quickly.  It normally asks if it should trust a program but for some reason it chose NOT to even ask about TexGen.

Thanks again for the very fast response!

I'm also having this problem. Texgen always stops responding after just starting. The folder is located outside of steam, Skyrim and mod organizer in the root of my G:drive. I have the program under trusted applications in Kapersky antivirus. Nothing is blocking folder access from what I can tell. I have changed the DynDOLOD_SSE.ini to fasterbase=0. I'm new to Texgen so, I must be missing something...

Not sure why you believe editing the DynDOLOD_SSE.in is going to have any effect on TexGen. TexGen does not scan base records either.

You did not say when TexGen is supposedly hanging or provided a screenshot. Have you checked that it has zero CPU?

Is there a TexConv process listed in Task Manager? Maybe it is also blocked by OS, UAC, Antivir or other crapware.

Have you tried  the x86 version or vice versa the x64 version/

Texgen stops responding at different times each time I try to run it through Mod Organizer 2.  I read in another post about the fasterbase fix, clearly I was wrong or misunderstood... sorry

Anyway, it always has 0 CPU usage. I have basically no other programs running to keep the load down on the CPU. I have tried both x64 and x86 versions with the same result.

TexGen is waiting for TexConvx64.

Make sure the OS, UAC, anti vir or some other 3rd party crap ware is not preventing TexConv from running. Install latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019

Run it without parameters from a command prompt to see if it prints some kind of error message. If it prints nothing it's fine.

Hi! Thank you for the fast response ^^.
I use DynDOLOD 3 Alpha as you mentioned. The problem is fixed when I tick the grass option ^^ somehow it won't progress if I don't tick it.
