Random crashing, few custom mods involved

Hello, I just did the guide and I am experiencing some weird problems. However before you start reading this, custom mods are involved so If you do not like that than do not continue beyond here. If you decide to continue, thank you very much ::): .

My problem does not happen without my custom mods.(Or at least not that often to really bother me.)

I am not using any ENB at the moment.

Specs

Not the best CPU, however that is not the issue. The freeze happens no matter how big the CPU Utilization is.

GTX 1050 Ti

8GB of RAM

Custom Stuff I did

For Vokrii compability I have disabled Lock Overhaul mod and did few more things which were discussed here: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/14972-using-vokrii-compatibility/

In order to get Vokrii compatible I did:

1. Installed "Vokrii __ CCOR patch" from https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19518

2. Disable "Lock Overhaul SE" mod

3. Did the manual patching(Frost effect forwarding) for Vokrii which can be seen here: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/14972-using-vokrii-compatibility/

4. LOOT - Made "Complete Alchemy Cooking Overhaul" load after "Vokrii", Made my "Custom patch from previous step" load after "Complete Alchemy Cooking Overhaul".

Another mods i added:

"New Begginings (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4939)" - Irrelevant, There is no way this is crashing the game. (Custom Loot rule to load after "Alternate Start - Live Another Life" was added.)

"Sacrosanct" - Only problem I found in its compatibility notes(https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/articles/54/?) was that it needs to be loaded after "Complete Alchemy Cooking Overhaul" which was done in LOOT using tag. However "Sacrosanct" is irrelevant too, because the issue is happening even without "Sacrosanct".

(Sacrosanct can be safely uninstalled even mid save as is written in its description here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3928)

Mod  load Order

My mod load order can be sen herehttps://modwat.ch/u/Lathyre/modlist       (Tick inactive mods. Anything which is higher than  item "My Mods_separator" is done by me and is not in the guide.)      (Inactive mods have red color. Active have green color.)

(You can also see ENB Helper SE and ENB Light at the end , however they are disabled.)

Issue Description

The issue seems to not be affected by Time factors. (Completely random. I can be doing almost anything. Time since the game has started does not matter either.)

I think I am having a thing called "Game Freeze" (I think this because of https://forum.step-project.com/topic/3260-know-your-problem-what-is-the-difference-between-ctd-freeze-and-ils/)

What happens is that my screen freezes. I can still hear Music and Sound Effects. If i tap ESC than I can hear sounds from the ingame options menu. This freeze also seems to completely lock my mouse into the game(I can not see it nor use it even if I alt-tab into another window.). The game needs to be killed from Task Manager(Which is done using keyboard because mouse is non functional).

I can post logs, however I am not sure which are needed. Should I post skse64.log or PapyrusUtilDev.log or NetScriptFramework log ?

I don't think I have a lot that can help, but since nobody else has replied to you yet I figured I might as well chip in.

Unlikely to be the cause of your freezes, but you have smithing perks overhaul enabled with vokrii loaded after it. Unless you patched them they will very likely conflict, especially if you are using the new perk tree.

Other than that, you may want to disable mods one at a time and have a good read through all the logs and see if you can pinpoint the troublesome mod. You did mention issues even with a full "vanilla" STEP setup however and I personally haven't had a single crash, freeze etc. during my gameplay sessions with my lightly tweaked STEP setup. So it's possible your problem is not caused by the additional mods at all.

I actually enjoy problem solving, so if you do want to add the logs etc. I'll be happy to read through them and see if we can figure out your problem.

EDIT: Just noticed that you also still have SSE-Terrain-Tamriel.esm in your plugins list. This should have been deleted/disabled after you finished generating the terrain LODs with xLODGen as per the guides instructions: "5. Remove the plugin placed in Overwrite from the Preparation steps."  This is also unlikely the cause however, since the xLODGen author mentions that this plugin is harmless when loaded in-game.

I think that "Smithing perk overhaul" should be fine. According to https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/articles/1174/?

It says:

Vokrii is compatible with mods that modify the vanilla smithing perks (Elven Smithing, etc), their associated crafting recipes and crafting requirements to make them more sensible, starting with version 2.0.0.

Did I misunderstand it ?

I forgot to uncheck the terrain thingie.

I will probably try redoing the guide or try something else entirely.

Thanks

You really need to ensure you have a strong and stable Guide setup before adding anything to it. My recommendation is to remove the mods that are not in the Guide, their patches, etc. Go through the details of the Guide, again, if need be. If you're still having issues with a 100% pure Guide setup, then we can talk business.

The reason you're not likely to find much help until you to that is because the staff is not familiar with the mods you've added. This is why we ask for a pure setup of the Guide, ensure that is stable, and then move on to adding additional mods. As it stands, we have no way of knowing if it's the mods you've added or something Guide related or something system related. Lets get the Guide portion ruled out, first.

Without my changes everything works fine. I am not blaming the guide for the issues. It is 99.99-100â„… fault of something I added myself. Without things I added myself, everything works fine. In fact this is one of the easiest to follow throught Skyrim modding guide I have tried.

I will try redoing it from scratch just in case I missed something anyway.

I did this:

1. Installed "Vokrii __ CCOR patch" from https://www.nexusmod...tion/mods/19518

2. Disabled "Lock Overhaul SE" mod (It is not compatible with Vokrii without patch probably.)

3. Did the manual patching(Frost effect forwarding) for Vokrii which can be seen here: https://forum.step-p...-compatibility/

4. LOOT - Made "Complete Alchemy Cooking Overhaul" load after "Vokrii", Made my "Custom patch from previous step" load after "Complete Alchemy Cooking Overhaul".

5. LOOT - Made "New Begginings" load after "Alternate Start - Live Another Life".

6 .LOOT - Made "Sacrosanct" load after "Complete Alchemy Cooking Overhaul".

Vokrii is compatible with mods that modify the vanilla smithing perks (Elven Smithing, etc), their associated crafting recipes and crafting requirements to make them more sensible, starting with version 2.0.0.

Using your load order:

CCOR

SPO

Vokrii

CACO

Indeed, it seems SPO's modified vanilla perk tree is compatible and works reasonably well with Vokrii. There are two minor issues I noticed in SSEEdit (verified quickly in-game using console commands):

1. The Dragon Smithing/Armor perk requires Ebony Smithing OR Glass Smithing but visually the Daedric Smithing Perk is placed between Ebony and Dragon. This is because SPO changes the perk to be placed after Arcane Smithing.

2. As I mentioned above, the Daedric Smithing perk requires Ebony Smithing AND Arcane Blacksmith, even though visually it doesn't show the Arcane Blacksmith link.

These are just minor visual inconsistencies. There might be some other minor things, I didn't spend too much time going over the Advanced Armour Smithing perks in particular, but I'm fairly confident that they work correctly. You should check everything in SSEdit yourself to make sure though.

SPO's new perk tree however is completely busted.

While I have only spent about 20 hours actually playing the game (I have the modding itch rn  :bleh: ), I didn't encounter any issues using Vokrii (and various others). Since we have Vokrii set up mostly the same(You have SPO whereas I don't and I should mention I have Lock Overhaul SE installed I just didn't enable it in the MCM and didn't test it) so the mod(s) causing your issue is more likely to be one of the other ones.

I'm not familiar with Sacrosanct or New Beginnings but I might install them and see if I can spot any issues  :confusion:

EDIT: I didn't look at any of the scripts
