Borderless Window (by virusek)

Question

Discussion thread:
Borderless Window by virusek
Wiki Link

Requires SKSE

A (much better IMO) alternative to SBW. Unlike SBW, this mod is just an SKSE plugin.

It allows you to run the game in a fullscreen window (borderless window). Running the game in a fullscreen window helps to remove/alleviate stuttering for some people (ATI/AMD users mainly) and it's much faster to alt+tab out of the game.

It's a good match for Double Cursor Fix (also by virusek).

Accepted for Performance STEP v2.2.6

Ditto. I've been using it for a week or so now. It works like a charm, combined with Double Cursor Fix (see OP) it's a win. Agree with OP that it's superior to SBW. No brainer, really - although for some people full screen works smoother apparently. For me windowed mode is better performance though.

I'm assuming this is to combat the alt-tab single or double mouse cursor appearing depending on whether your on a keyboard or controller. I just wanted to share my solution as it might be a work around for those with crossfire issues or for those not wishing to run Skryim in windowed mode.

Using this mod: Skyrim Switcher - Alt-Tab Replacement - 360 pad support - https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14408

for the alt-tab mouse fix however there is one trick that perhaps not everyone is aware of.

The trick is before you hit your hotkey for the alt-tab, open the game menu up ([esc] or [start]) then hit the hotkey to quickly switch in out of the game.

Once your back in the game just close the game menu and let the good times roll.

So to sum up, the trick is to not move your mouse at all when in the game menu after you've returned to the game (more specifically, game menu) then close it.

So just don't your mouse until the whole process is done which is like 2 seconds.

Hope I didn't waste anyones time, just wanted to share this technique that I use and works very easily and smoothly.

Cheers

Subject mod was part of SR guide but not anymore for SR:LE.

Is there any particular reason for that?

I am using v. 1.2 with ENB 0.200-0.204 (not tested 0.205 yet...) and it works fine in my system. Also, having:

ForceBorderless=true

ForceBorderlessFullscreen=true , in enblocal.ini

Thanks!

Currently it is being investigated if the mod is cause of certain freezes/ILS due to interaction with the new ENB features.

At least that is what I have suggested to Neo, since other people on the ENB forum are reporting some issues that might be due to using windowed mode.

Only time will tell if it will be back. I personally do not use it since I have accepted that I just cant tab out of Skyrim a long time ago. And I do not want to deal with the extra issues that windowed mode might bring.

Stay tuned on this one... as Aiyen says ENB is playing a big role in this one being in or out... so it may come back... it may not.

Honestly almost everything in SR:LE is up on the chopping block in one form or another so thats why it is very much work in progress.

And of course you're going to be using Aiyen's ENB as the official ENB now right? Sorry couldn't help it I like it better than any of the others I've tried. Though, I haven't given Unreal a shot yet.

Tks Neo & Aiyen for the heads up!

If I am to remove it, for my personal testing purposes, I still have these 4 questions:

1. Will I have to un-tick the window mode in the options menu of Skyrim Launcher?

2. Do I need to alter anything in skyrim.ini and/or skyrimprefs.ini?

3. I assume that I change the 2 options in enblocal.ini (ForceBorderless & ForceBorderlessFullscreen) into false

4. Do I still have to keep the Double Cursor Fix mod? is it needed?

Thanks guys!
