Why do we need to configure Wrye Bash?

This guide tell me to configure Wrye Bash setting.

 

Do I have to delete Oblivion directories and Bashed Patch, Oblivion.esp and configure bash.ini?

 

I'm only using Wrye Bash from Mod Organizer for bashed patch and curious about why these step is needed.

works fine for me without these steps. I'm just curious.

You don't need to do those steps. The bash.ini is only needed if you need to change default paths, but that won't affect you since you are using MO.

I only use WB and not MO. I think it actually worked for me too once when I forgot to do these steps. I just did them anyway the last time around just in case.
