The problem is that he would need to completely rewrite it from scratch to fix the CtD issues it has, as he has been doing major things "wrong" from the start (deleting records frmo Skyrim.esm rather than disabling them), so checking newer updates until one is a complete rewrite won't help much I'm afraid.

Can anyone corroborate Vond's assessment?? If true (and I have no idea), then it seems that this mod should no longer be a candidate unless/until it is rebuilt to standards.

Ofcourse, TES5Edit would mean it didn't need to be fixed, but we don't have that yet. As it is, it causes crashes when used together with a lot of different mods due to deleting all those records. If not using any mods that conflict however it is safe to use, but it's often hard to know until you enter a specific cell.

Yep, that's a deal breaker for me. I will never use this one :no:

 

We just aren't ready for real game-changing mods yet until we have TESVEdit and a plethora of other tools necessary to correct/circumvent all of the garbage. Maybe in a year or two when TESVI comes out? We still see improvements in TESIV to this day ... Bummer.

Hey, guys!

 

I'm puuloo and i've been watching this threat about my mod since it was created! The truth is, i don't like what most of you write here! :ermm:

 

 

Mostly you talk about some deleted records and bla bla bla .......:hurr: The thing is.....these are just normal lights, :lol: which are deleted with my mod and no normal person who's making a lighting template mod or dungeon mod or anything not related to lights at all will try to modify them and if they do, their mod should be loaded after mine and VOALA.....

 

 

Did any of you know this about the deleting when the CK came out and i started making this long-desired mod, huh? No.... :no: then shut up and don't sue me for what i've done because this was all very very very hard work and i'm proud of what i did. I'm no noob, i know what i'm doing because i already modded with oblivion. :down:

 

 

 

The hell i don't care about these S.T.E.P. ******** and all that nonsense.....

I just wanted to read as much responses from people, who experienced the mod and try to fix if there are any bugs mentioned by them. :turned:

 

You have your games filled with shiny-looking mods which are buggy in the inside and most modders aren't skilled enough and don't actually know what their "pride and joy" change.

Or as a very old bulgarian saying says "Работи, работи па хвърли секирата!".

 

 

And i still try to make my mod compatible with them ****. :sick:

Uhm... Yes, was very aware of the deleted records thing as it was a major issue in Oblivion aswell with a ton of mods. Now I don't think anyone has anything negative to say about the quality of the dynamic shadows you've added, as when the mod works it's absolutely gorgeous. That's not what any of the negativity is about at all, so there's no need to feel insulted about the criticism as it isn't about the quality of the work itself.

 

Sadly it just doesn't work for a lot of people, and even if the deleted records are only lightsources and might not be the main culprit here (the issue could be something else, I haven't done proper logging tests on it etc), deleting records is NEVER a good thing. Disabling them (and in cases where that alone doesn't work, also moving them) gives you the same result, but without running the risk of extra incompatability. If another mod is making edits to a cell that you've edited, sadly there can be crashes. There are also quite a few edits in the mod that are identical to the Skyrim.esm, which surves no purpose but can easily happen when editing cells (because the CK sucks). The issue with these ITMs is not as severe, but can cause changes that one mod makes to be nullified even when it doesn't have to be because when your mod loads after, it will simply revert the vanilla records for that cell.

 

I understand completely however if you don't want to change this as it is, considering the insane amount of time it would take to undelete and disable 1500+ records only to make the mod possibly work for more people, when it works for fine for people who do NOT run mods that edit those cells. Eventually we'll have tools available that make this a lot easier.

Edit: Figured I'd give an example of the issue I'm talking about above, so here goes.

The edits to for example the Hall of the Dead in Whiterun is also edited by amongst other the mod Gardens of Whiterun. Depending on load order, this can cause the crash since some records it tries to edit are deleted by MDS (one example has formID 000E3EBA). If instead that record was disabled, this wouldn't occur.

Here are the facts:

 

  • Bethesda did not produce a polished game... (not a big surprise, as this is in keeping with tradition)
  • The modding community has a core group of leaders that think alike, and have tried very hard to publish and adhere to an agreeable set of standards specific to each TES game.
  • Each TES game requires its own set of standards to mod by in order for many mods to work together.
  • New modders arise from the throngs every day, and many have talent, but are averse to reading or communicating (or producing ReadMes for their mods).
  • The modding world would be so much simpler if modders and mod authors alike would evolve to the point of certain of their predecessors of years past and learn some deliberative patience for the art of reading and communication.
  • Modders can do as they like as can mod authors. Those that want to be guided by standards can look forward to many hours, weeks, months, years of enjoyment playing modded TES games... others can experience similar-and-no-less-valid thrills trying to get their modded TES games to work ;)
  • The STEP community is among of the former of the preceding :D

The latest SVN of bash has the ability to convert UDR to disables, I have not tried it yet but it is fabulous news that things are progressing again!

Wow i think another mod maker that can't take a little criticism. If he is a veteren in modding like he says he is he should know that his mod isen't going to work perfectly with everybodys game and not everybody is going to think its the best thing since sliced bread. From what i have read in this thread no body was bashing the mod for work done or anything they where just stating there points and maybe trying to point out errors in the mod which i think in most cases is caused by the crappy buggy CK and not the mod maker

 

 

And remember Puuloo your not the king of all and every body has the right to voice there opinion as long as its within the forum rules as with your post you are trying to state your opinion but i think its on the verge of breaking a few of our rules but i won't do anything out of haste i will see what the others think first

It only has ability to find the UDRs, not actually convert them to disables. The option to do so is there (and has been for a long time) but it does nothing in Skyrim yet, only Oblivion. Just made sure I had the latest SVN to doublecheck and tried it on a test esp with some added UDRs, and it still just says "No changes required."

The latest SVN of bash has the ability to convert UDR to disables, I have not tried it yet but it is fabulous news that things are progressing again!

Second, I'm not a veteran at modding! I just have been in modding for a long time. :no:

 

Third, and what rules am i on the "verge of breaking"?????

 

Last, are you some kind of a boss here to do something "in haste"?:lol:

 

I just hate to see some children giving estimates here and there and someone, who wants to check the mod out see them and then turn the other way!!!! :down:
