SKSE error - [SOLVED]

daZza

Question

Hey folks,

got the new STEP up & running but when launching the game via SKSE it gives me an error: "Initialisation failed" is the heading of the little error window and the text is "game not found"

I tried both the current release and the beta build of SKSE. When closing the error message the game start though, however, I'm not sure, if SKSE is running. Anyway to check or any known solution for that problem?

PS: I made a fresh install of Skyrim before getting the new STEP. So there shouldnt be any incompatibilities.

Just looked on MO nexus thread and doveman has been active there and is using MO for STEP 2-1-x so perhaps he can look into it?

If doveman can't then I will ressurrect my MO in one way or another and see if I can help

@dAzza - if you post in the MO nexus thread, Tannin42 should respond fairly quickly as he is pretty active. Or perhaps another MO user on the thread can assist.

I can confirm that the message in small tiny box windows saying fail to initialise.... "to render" (cant seee due to window so small ), game fail to load... is definitely caused by mod manager. Mod manager installs "mo1.dll" and mo_ path.txt to the \data\skse\plugins\ folders - Simply remove these or mainly the mo1.dll and the message goes away.

Althoug it not ncessary as skse wil run with or without it. It simply so that mod manager can run the skse app within its gui.

Apoligies just tested again - even by leaving the mo1.dll skse still loads without the error. The error is infact caused by the mo_path.txt (This the contents of my mo_path.txt :- D:\TEST\ModOrganizer) so simply the mo1.dll is looking for mod organise installtion or source directory where want to load from but cannot as it s been removed its location or the disk.

PS I removed mod organise about two days ago and the message was irratating me! lol

Find this folder in your steam installation directory:

"...SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\skse\plugins"

Look for hook.dll, and mo_*.txt and delete them.

These belonged to the Mod Organizer installation which, apparently, you do not use anymore. This will help you. Yes.
