Damn That Weird Tree!

ManyTheKing

Question

Hi , I'm new here but not new as follower of this awesome STEP

Before all, I have to tell u that English isn't my first language so apologize for grammatical errors or others.

I'm comming here because I followed STEP to mod Skyrim and I got some issues, two for now exactly

I start a new game cause of all new mods I installed so imagine the Bethesda's introduction

First, after a moment, some trees are bugged, I mean these trees are pixellised with big white blocks like this https://i.imgur.com/U9GQbGE.jpg but on trees and more like 'blocks'

The second problem is from barrels I think, I'm not sure if it is the correct word for this, u know this container where u put the whine or something like it, they are like the dragon, a kind of blue color

So I'm here to know how to resolve that, I want to know from which mod those bugs come.

Thank u

Sorry again for this poor english :(

By the way, I tried to use TES5Edit to clean mods but I think it isnt working for me, green files stay green after 'Cleaning Filters' or comes red sometimes... any idea what do i do wrong?

For example, one of the files on BirdsCleanHF was red, so I disabled it and after that, Skyrim.esm and Heathfire.esm becomes red..

And green files from BirdsCleanHF stayed green.. ( But i just see that BOSS dont want me to clean it now..)

the image is showing a model that is missing its diffuse map. Since it is purple it only has its normal map applied. This means that you most likely did some optimization that went wrong and the game can no longer show the diffuse texture (diffuse are the .dds files).

As for the other issue. Cleaning should only ever show up in BOSS if it is done or not.

It sounds like you are just deleting entries left and right without a plan... that is always a bad thing. Take the colors in Tes5edit with a grain of salt. Unless you have a clear plan for what you want to do then they are not really a help.

Just because something is red does not mean that it is wrong!

Okay thanks, indeed it's my first time for TES5Edit and I don't really know how it works..

So is it better for me to let dirty files?

And for the texture issues, do you have an idea from witch mod it comes and how I can fix that? Sorry I'm a bit incompetent, normally I got no problems..

For barrels, i think its SMIM but for trees i got no idea..

I reinstalled SMIM and Skyim Flora Overhaul, the problem with barrels and the pen seems to be fixed but the trees is still bugged..

Hello phazer11

I'm not sure that I correctly understand what u said

It's better for me to just follow S.T.E.P. , is it correct?

What I was saying was that if you're new to modding you probably shouldn't touch TES5Edit but if you're going to do it anyways install all of the mods in STEP and then follow Neovalen's instructions for TES5Edit in his Skyrim Revisited guide (only for the mods you have installed not the extra ones he adds to STEP core say Frostfall which you wouldn't install if you wanted a STEP installation)

I'm looking for MODS , pretty nice mods that I want to try but yea for now, I just got STEP recommended mods ty for the advice

Can I ask u one more minute? I still try to fix the bugged tree, as I said, we can see the bugged tree at the start, after few minutes, just after the guy say 'Oh u finally woke up' ( i don't know if it is exactly what he say but in my language, its looks like that )

I found the mods who adds trees files

-Bethesda Hi-Res Optimized

-Serious HD retexture

-SFO

-SKyrim HD

Maybe its better to reinstall all these mods in the STEP order? I mean, the list of STEP, the first who appears first and the second after etc

I'd skip DDSopting SFO altogether. Vurt is pretty much a pro in that he does the textures and reworks the meshes so it all fits together. Because of that it is hard to really optimize his work, it is professional level stuff so it is about as optimal as it can be.

On a side note, he recently did some System Shock 2 work that was pretty sweet.
