Help With ENB Manager, Unreal Cinema ENB and ModOrganizer

Question

Hello all,

I have an issue while trying to follow Skyrim Revisited Legendary Edition's instructions for setting up Unreal Cinema ENB and I'm hoping somebody can help me.  In the instructions Neovalen says to extract the ENB Series archive into a temp folder, then open ENB Manager and Changer and add the d3d9.dll into the ENB Version pane.  Then Neovalen says to delete the ENBTemp folder as it's no longer needed since ENB Manager has moved the d3d9.dll into its own location (which I verified).

Then in the Unreal Cinema instructions, I'm to extract the contents of the archive into another temp folder called UCTemp and then open ENB Manager, add a new configuration for Unreal Cinema ENB.  Next, navigate to the UCTemp folder in the "Files" pane and select all contents in the folder then click [Add].  Finally remove UCTemp as the files were moved to the appropriate location.  I did this part per the instructions verbatim.

After this, I'm to download the ENB helper mod and extract the contents into "enbseries" folder then add all of these files into the "Files" pane in ENB Manager then remove the "enbseries" temp folder.  Did this to a "T" as well.

Here's where I'm having the issue:  in the next step I'm supposed to configure the "enblocal.ini" file within the "Files" pane in ENB Manager, but there is no "enblocal.ini".  The only "enblocal.ini" file that I was able to find was in the ENB Series archive in the first step, but the instructions only told me to move d3d9.dll and nothing else.  I tried to look at the instructions for the manual install of ENB Series and Unreal Cinema, but I'm having trouble piecing those together to formulate how this should work with ModOrganizer.

My questions are:

1. Should I move the "enblocal.ini" file from the ENB Series archive even though the instructions say to only move the d3d9.dll?

2. Do I need to move any of the additional files from the "WrapperVersion" folder in ENB Series archive besides d3d9.dll and/or enblocal.ini?

3. Can anybody provide me a list of the files that should show up in the Unreal Cinema configuration "Files" pane so that I can verify that I did this correctly?

4. I'm using ModOrganizer for all of my mods (except for ENB because according to the instructions you shouldn't run ENB through ModOrganizer, unless I'm wrong on that), and the manual instructions for Unreal Cinema seem to make it sound like you should download and install the mod through NMM.  I'm fairly familiar with using MO in place of NMM, but in this case, do I download it through MO or do I just manually extract it?  If I'm to manually extract it, wouldn't that permanently change things?  I definitely want to be able to have multiple profiles in MO with various mod lists.

Sorry if my questions seem noobish, but I'm having a really hard time following along with this step and I've already tried to Google the answer.  I've gone through Skyrim Revisited once before, but skipped the ENB step and the rest of the guide is pretty easy to understand if you follow the instructions step by step.  I'm just getting lost here.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me in understanding this better!

1. enblocal.ini is included in the Unreal Cinema archive.

2. Updated this section due to tonights changes. Please re-read.

3. enbseries folder, enbseries.ini, enblocal.INI

4. Install the data file via MO (note this is in the mod install section). The preset manual download.

Neovalen, thank you so so much for responding.  Perhaps I got the wrong package of Unreal Cinema?  There's definitely no "enblocal.ini" in the one that I have.  There's only a "Data" folder with meshes, textures, and shaders subfolders in it.  I'm going to look into it here in a bit and post back what I find.  I'm also going to re-read the section with updates as well.

Neovalen - thanks again!  I went back through your updated steps and realized that I had the data file only and that's why it wasn't working.  I have the preset installed and now I'm going to continue through the rest of it and install the data file.  The new instructions help this noob a ton!

Well, I got through the guide to the point where you enable the rest of the Unreal Cinema ENB mod and I ran into some really crazy graphical issues.  I uploaded it to YouTube as an unlisted video:

[video=youtube]

In the beginning I launch the ENB window so you can see my settings.  In the loading screen on a new game where the dragon normally is, there's just two floating red eyes now.  Then it gets really weird after that.  I detailed some other things in the video description.  Anybody know why this is happening?

Well the first thing I'd do is disable the ENB in game and if that helps I'd ditch the ENB manager and install all of the ENB files (the binaries from Boris and the Unreal preset files) and see if that helps. I assume you've run BOSS and have the unofficial patches ticked.

If that doesn't help please post your BOSS log and any patches you may have made.

Also ditch the yucky loading screen smoke.

Well ENB manager have been known to .... for some reason that is entirely beyond my understanding .. to cause issues with the ENB settings.

It is a program that supposedly just copy paste for you... so how it actually affects anything.

I always recommend manual installation over using it. However if it is not due to having AA on in your driver control panel, then it will most likely be related to a mod... in this case a dragon mod, not installed properly.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Aiyen - When I went into ENB Manager and set it back to the preset of "Disable ENB" and then activated it, I verified that it removed all of the files from the directory and then I ran just the STEP optimized profile from MO that I was using before trying this one and everything worked just like it used to.  No glitches, everything good.  However, based on the recommendations from STEP, I have a profile on my AMD Catalyst setup to switch the settings when skse_loader.exe launches.  It's setup verbatim to what STEP recommends, which AA mode is set to "Override application settings" and it's sampling is at 4x - Standard - Supersampling.  Perhaps that's messing with this?  I haven't tried disabling the Catalyst profile, so when I get home I'll try that out and see if it fixes anything.

deathneko - Yeah I believe it's fine.  I monitor the temperature of it at all times and when I play other games or render things from it, the card works great.  Even disabling the ENB Manager profile and running Skyrim makes it perform normally.  It did scare the crap out of me when this happened though and I thought "oh god, what have I done?!" :)

phazer11 - I did try disabling through ENB Manager, but I haven't tried a manual install to see if that would have any affect.  I'm going to first try turning AA off like Aiyen recommended and then see if that fixes it, then I'll manually install it if that doesn't work.  I have run BOSS and have the unofficial patches installed.  Essentially I've ran through Neovalen's guide (Legendary Edition) exactly up to the point of the Unreal Cinema ENB (2nd half) install.  So yes, I've done all of that, but haven't gotten to disabling the loading screen smoke yet or the spinning emblem either :)

Thanks again for all of the helpful input and I'll post back my findings when I can have time to do it.  Probably this evening, but might have to wait until tomorrow evening.

OK well, something is still wrong. but at least it's a different result now. I deleted the profile for the skse_loader.exe in Catalyst. That had no effect and the graphic anomalies were still there. I then went into the native launcher and remembered that I had anti-aliasing set in there as well (per STEP) so I disabled that. After doing that, I'm now CTD'ing as soon as I can see the opening screen after running the game. I then tried to also disable anistropic filtering in the launcher settings as well. Still CTD.

Next I tried to disable the ENB altogether after doing all of this, but still getting CTD... Any ideas on which mod when AA is disabled would make this suddenly CTD? I'm going to systematically disable mods one by one and try to figure it out.

UPDATE: So I went through in reverse order and unchecked all the mods, running SKSE launcher after each one, CTD's on everything until I disabled Falskaar... I haven't re-enabled the ENB yet, so I'm going to do that now and see if it's still weird.

UPDATE #2: Wow... So I got it working now and it's all peachy, except good lord have my framerates been murdered. I'm running through HDMI, so I don't know my true FPS, but without the ENB on, I'm at a solid 60 the whole time during the game intro. When I enable this, I'm at 26-29 and it's so laggy on the controls that I can barely move. It's absolutely gorgeous though and wish I could use it. Guess I'll have to pass since this 7870 Myst can't handle it. :/ Maybe some day I'll be able to bump up to a better card. Would I see a noticeable improvement from Crossfiring another 7870 Myst? I know they've been discontinued but there's still a few places that have them around.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
