Question about TES5 Edit

Recommended Posts

When I open TES5 Edit, the only selections that appear in the Master/Plugin selection dialog box are the following:

Skyrim

Update

Dawnguard

Hearthfires

Dragonborn

HighResTxtPack01

HighResTxtPack02

HighResTxtPack03

Bashed Patch

General Patch

Even though I have other master and plugins installed (unofficail skyrim patch, waterbreathing breathless emerge, etc.)

I am trying to complete the below steps from the Skyrim Revisited guide but cannot do so until I figure out how to get TES5 Edit to recognize the other master and plugins I have installed. Can anyone help?

Waterbreathing Breathless Emerge

Author: Alek

Warning:This mod does not forward some fixes from the unofficial patches.

To resolve the problem(s), perform the following:

Open TES5Edit.

Select Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp and Waterbreathing Breathless Emerge.esp then click [OK].

Expand "Dialog Topic" under Waterbreathing Breathless Emerge.esp and select the "0010EEA4" node.

Drag the "Subtype" record from Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp to Waterbreathing Breathless Emerge.esp.

Click the [X] in the upper right hand corner, uncheck "Backup plugins", and click [OK].

Which version of SR are you following? Make sure you follow the latest version which does not have these instructions. The older versions are out of date, though they worked in their time so much has changed since then.

Also TES5Edit needs to be run through Mod Organiser if it isn't then it will only see the files in the Data folder.

These instructions are from the latest version of SR but are also in the earlier versions.

Configure Mod Organizer

With Skyrim and the Creation Kit properly configured, the next step is to initially set up our mod management utility and create a "Vanilla Skyrim" profile.

Start Mod Organizer.

If this is the first run, Mod Organizer will prompt you to select which game you wish to manage, select Skyrim.

Mod Organizer will then prompt to show a tutorial. It is highly recommended to click [Yes] if not familiar with the tool.

Click the [Configure Profiles] button at the top of the window. The icon looks like an id card.

Verify "Automatic Archive Invalidation" and "Local Savegames" are unchecked.

Click [Create] and type "Vanilla Skyrim" in the text box.

Verify that "Default Game Settings" is unchecked then click [OK]. The "Vanilla Skyrim" profile will appear in the list.

Select the "Default" profile and click [Remove]. Select [Yes] when prompted.

Close the dialogue by clicking [Close].

Verify that "Vanilla Skyrim" is the currently selected profile in the "Profile" drop-down above the left-pane of the Mod Organizer window.

Notice:Mod Organizer has created a local copy of the current Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini to be used when running this profile.

Throughout the guide, these copies will be modified with the various changes leaving the default ini files untouched.

Now, final preparations must be made to use our mod manager and other tools to their fullest extent.

Click the [settings] button at the top of the main Mod Organizer window. The icon looks like a screwdriver and wrench.

In the "Settings" dialogue, click the [General] tab and in the "Style" drop down select "Dark.qss".

In the "Settings" dialogue, click the [Nexus] tab.

Check "Automatically Log-In to Nexus" and input a valid nexus username and password.

In the "Settings" dialogue, click the [Plugins] tab.

Select "Fomod Installer" in the left pane.

In the right pane, double click the value to the right of "prefer" and select "false".

In the "Settings" dialogue, click the [Workarounds] tab.

Verify that NMM Version is at least 0.47.1, if it is not then update it to this value.

Close the window by clicking [OK].

Click the [Executables] button at the top of the main Mod Organizer window. The icon looks like a pair of cogs.

If all prerequisites were installed correctly, some software such as SKSE, Skyrim, and the Creation Kit should appear pre-configured in the list. To configure the remaining tools, perform the following:

In the "Title" text box type "BOSS".

In the "Binary" text box type \BOSS.exe or select it using windows explorer by pressing the [...] button.

Do not select any of the optional check boxes.

Click the [Add] button. BOSS should appear in the list.

Repeat this process this for BUM, TES5Edit, and Wrye Bash replacing the appropriate fields then close the dialogue by clicking [OK].

Notice:The game and related tool programs must be run through Mod Organizer which allows them to see the virtualized data folder.

Desktop shortcuts can be created for this function by clicking the [shortcut] button on the far right of the display below the [Run] button.

Looks like you are not running TES5Edit through MO. Look at these instructions in SRLE:

"If all prerequisites were installed correctly, some software such as SKSE, Skyrim, and the Creation Kit should appear pre-configured in the list.

Repeat this process this for BUM, TES5Edit, and Wrye Bash replacing the appropriate fields then close the dialogue by clicking [OK]."

Then run TES5Edit by selecting it from the gray drop down menu towards the top right of MO and hitting run. Make sure you have activated all your plugins in MO first - (check the little box next to them on the right hand panel of MO).

Note: ALWAYS run TES5Edit, BOSS, BUM, SUM, Wrye Bash, etc. through this drop down menu in MO so that they can see the virtual folders that MO creates - if you run them from outside of MO you will only see the Bethesda plugins in your main Skyrim directory (plus anything else you accidentally wrote to that directory).
