Can't install any other mods?

TDarkShadow

Question

Hey everyone. I have followed the guide and I have one of the most stable playthroughs so far. But I felt some things missing and wanted install some other mods. So I did what I usual do with Skyrim; copy the F&L profile, make a new one, and install some new mods. My game stucks however at the intro. The only fix I can do to exit is, is to log off. Now, even if the mods are deactive, removed or I switch back to the Guide profile, I still freeze at the intro. Does anyone has the same problem? The mods in question doesn't even matter. I tried with The Couriers Cache, Pip-phone 3000, New Bison Steve, and SinkOMatic. Ofcourse, I tried with only on eof the mod each time, but still the same problem. And now I even removed those mods and I still freezes. Wrye Flash doesn't report anything missing and FNVedit doesn't any conflicts.

Okay, so when you switched profiles did you reinstall any of the mods you had like uHUD? Did you also generate a bashed patch? With MO you need to generate a different bashed patch for every profile. It is a bit annoying, but worth it in the long run.

When you make a profile and generate a bashed patch it will usually end up in you DATA directory or your overwrite directory. Either way it needs to be moved into it's own mod folder in the MO mods folder.

  • So make a folder in you 'Mod Organizer/mods/' folder that is named after your profile, like 'F&L in NV #1 bashed Patch'. Then put the bashed patch in there.
  • If you make a new profile you need to make sure that the bashed patch for the other porfile(s) are unticked and then go into the Mopy/template folder and copy the Bashed Patch, 0.esp into the 'Mod Organizer/Overwrite' folder or to the FNV/Data folder.
  • Then generate the bashed patch for the new profile and make a new folder for it like the above directions.

That is one problem I can foresee. The other is changing mods that are installed for one profile but need to reinstalled in a separate folder for a new profile. UHUD is the mod that I could see having that problem.

@TDarkShadow  If your not a N00b then yea just might have to uninstall/reinstall everything.  Unlike Skyrim, New Vegas is a bit more finicky.

After months of trying stuff...I just Revo Uninstalled everything to do with New Vegas.  (Kept Mod Organizer and Moved it)

Now I also did a Clean Install of Windows 7x64.  Fresh/Clean/Format of everything.

^did that cuz I got a SSD and installed Steam with Win7 on that.

For me:

B4 MO would not open any of the exe like FnV4gb.exe or NVSE.exe but without using MO, meaning just Vanilla, It would play fine...sometimes :/  Like you, it froze right when opening the exe or it would go to the 1st "Bethesda/obsiden" logo (where steam overlay pops up) and freeze.  Tried running in a sandbox.  Event Viewer did not turn up anything either.  Tried with some -arguments but to no avail.

So it comes down to The Game.  If EssArrBee's suggestion don't work...maybe try mine.  IF yea do go threw with it, When yea first install the game/Vanilla and run the launcher, 7zip the whole vanilla directory and put it somewhere safe.  Then 7zip it again after yea have your NVSE/FnvEDIT..etc.

I'm sorry I don't have any tricks for yea but thats how I fixed my problem.

Good Luck TDarkShadow :)

Thanks for both tips guys. Weirdly enough, rebuilding the Bashed Patch helps. Sometimes, atleast. If I add The Couriers Cache, my game freezes at the intro. If however I make a bashed patch with it, although it doens't add anything to it (neither values, nor masters), my game works again. But it doesn't work when I do the same thing with New Bison Steve, which only adds a esm and a bsa. So maybe, it only works when I use mods that uses esp's.Thanks btw EssArrBee. It's not exactly a base for modding the game further, it's atleast very stable to play it :)
