I am trying to consolidate my load order a bit, and was wondering what people think about putting all CoT related plugins at the top of load order. I don't think I am using anything else that touches weather. RLO is related, but shouldn't conflict, I believe.

There is a reason why BOSS puts everything it places in a certain place.

In case anyone uses CoT with Skyrim Flora Overhaul (I assume lots of people), I noticed there is one conflicticting texture - tundragrassobj01.dds

It's a huge difference, and I don't quite understand why is it even present in CoT.

FIY: With the release of AOS2, Lord Korn strongly advices not to use CoT sounds, because of style differences, overlapping sounds and more.

Which is now working with Real Clouds for the most part, except for sometimes when you are in a cloud and new clouds are forming if you look straight up you can see some edges:

Anyway I'd like to use RealVision ENB which uses CoT and RLO.

 

So is there a Lighting Section coming to the STEP Guide anytime soon?

Lighting and weather mods have only been mentioned in passing that it might be good and time to find one for STEP:Extended; however, there hasn't been ongoing, heavy discussion on such. Right now we're attempting to find a female body replacer and that has been the main focus for about a week.

There is no particular reason for jumping from 3.1 to 5.0 except to say it looks cleaner and emphasizes that this is a major and almost certainly final update. I have no intention of duplicating what other mods do in terms of adding weather effects (meteor storms, lightning, rainbows etc etc) as for one I want to avoid mod bloat, and two I like to keep things modular so players can choose what other features they want to add to their Skyrim experience.
As I have previously mentioned in one or two posts here, a new sky mesh, new textures and new night modules are the number one priorities for CoT 5.0. There will also be tweaks to sky gradient colours as well as game lighting but nothing major. Fog weathers are an area I'm most interested in overhauling though.
I have no intention of integrating or copying over anything from the CoT weather patch. Again, if people want to use that particular patch, then they can choose to do so.
I will more than likely remove the sound module from CoT. I originally created it because people could not use CoT and Sounds of Skyrim together. SoS has since been updated to include a CoT patch so there really isn't a need for the CoT sound module any longer.
I do have one or two additional features I would like to add but that depends on timescales.

 

 

COT can be better and will be better. The night patches are not really up-to-scratch in terms of the rest of the mod so that will be remedied. I've looked at the sky and cloud meshes and the way they are designed is not really conjusive to creating 'spectacular' sky visuals which have the feel of size and depth. Without wanting to be negative about the vanilla sky meshes, I do have to say that they appear to have been quickly thrown together by the Bethesda development team. There is huge room for improvement so that is where my focus is at present. New sky meshes will also mean new textures and I aim to provide 4096, 2048 and 1024 versions of these.
There are a few other things like weather chances which I want to go over as well as some of the audio files.
Last but by no means least, there are also 2 or 3 other features which I want to implement but it depends on whether they are doable within the timescale I have allocated.
Once 5.0 is finished I want it to have the WOW factor and I will be going all out to achieve that.
EDIT: Almost forgot to mention but a new ENB will be released with it as well. Also,some may ask why I have decided to update COT? Reason: I want to make it as good as it can be so I can transfer the work over to FO4 when the times comes.

Guess it will remain to be seen just how much additional update work will be involved for me when that monster goes live!

that reminds me of the modding fireworks FO4 will receive when it goes live, and my dearest hope that it will provide a much better modding / modular friendly engine than skyrim.

anyway, i like what i heard of coming COT changes

I use these mods + their COT 3.1 patches, and I'd like to ask who also use these plugins how to solve comaptibility:

So, I ask the comminity, you guys what do you recommend? I have a feeling some of them won't be updated because they are abandoned mods.

Maybe the

- 4th one is unnecessary (?)
- 3rd one, Falskaar Patch was created for COT 3.1
- 2nd one AOS possibly will be still updated, but I have no idea. It has also patches for COT 3.1
- and the 1st one Lightning during Thunder Storms by Minty also could will get an update, because as far as I know Minty is active.

These mods I use, and I am sure I am not the only one.

First and foremost I will wait how Neovalen will update its Legendary Guide, because it has some of them.

2.) I don't know, I use Vividian ENB which has a CoT 5 + AOS Compatibility Patch In The Installer. Sorry.

As far as SR:LE is concerned, it is fully updated for USLEEP and CoT5 as of right now. Waiting for CCOR 1.7 and Frostfall 3.0 to drop tonight before taking off the warning message.
