Totally solved (thanks to the heroes of STEP) - STEP Extended (full) : horizontal lines in the distance (far away)

PingouinMalin

Question

Hi,

I have completed the STEP Extended and I have, as far as I know respected every advice and order given and my game is running quite smoothly (it uses the full 2gb on my GTX 760 graphic card but I guess it is normal), apart from on slight problem. I have not added anything yet to it (no Enb for instance).

As shown here :

or here :

It does not appear to be visible on rocks or trees or water. Only ground (or grass maybe ?).

I think this is unrelated but I see kind of lines too on people with dark skin :

Fair Skinned people do not have this problem (or it is not visible).

Anyone has any idea what the problem might be ?

Well I tried to uninstall and, no surprise, it did absolutely nothing. I tweaked hte profiles, and nada.

I was unconvinced by the Graphic Card drivers but still uninstalled it (actually uninstalled the whole card by mistake) and...

VICTORY IS MINE !

It was either the drivers or NVidia Inspector, which I deleted too.

Big, big thanks to all the people who took time to help me. Really nice of you all.

Now I can ruin my Skyrim again with mods (hopefully not) !

My AA setting has been done according to the STEP guide too : 4X, iMultiSample=4 in the ini file and in Nvidia inspector :

  • Set Antialiasing - Mode to "Application-controlled".
  • Set Antialiasing - Setting to "Application-controlled / Off"

fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000

fShadowDistance=8000

fShadowLODStartFade=200.0000

fShadowBiasScale=0.15
iBlurDeferredShadowMask=3
iShadowMapResolution=4096
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048 (though I've discovered I have this one in both ini (display) and pref.ini (general))
iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024 (in pref.ini)
iShadowSplitCount=2
iShadowFilter=3
iShadowMode=3
iShadowMaskQuarter=4
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1
bShadowMaskZPrepass=0
bShadowsOnGrass=1
bDeferredShadows=1
bDrawShadows=1

I thought so too (with my not so good skills in modding). I tried reinstalling all the "distant something" mods in case I had done something wrong with the LOD affecting mods (but with the same settings) and I did not mess with any lod setting in the inis I think (I followed the guide to the letter except for one or to textures for items, which is pretty much unlikely to be the cause..).

I was thinking that, as I intend to install an enb anyway, the depth of field effect could hide the problem almost completely. Unless the enb is unhappy too about the bug. But I'd rather have no bug at all.
