Skyrim Seemingly Random Crashes

I have recently gotten a new pc, pretty high end, and decided to try out STEP, so I put on the Core, the Extended, and the Survival packs along with a few mods I just wanted to have. I played through the intro Unbound quest and it played fine, then once I saved right after the Unbound quest ends, I added SkyTest, Birds of Skyrim, and skyBirds. After that point I began having CTDs usually less than five minutes after gameplay and often associated with leaving menus or going near certain areas (Riverwood guardian stones or a shrine of Talos for example.) I removed the newly added mods and still had the issue, so I made a new clean save and tried again with the same results.

 

I assume the issue is something that isn't present in leaving Helgen, or I messed up in the Step Installation. I do get three errors from LOOT two for COT and RLO not working together, but I disabled the COT files that are conflicting, and one for Winter is Coming and Cloaks of Skyrim Patch, since I removed Cloaks of Skyrim, but I disabled this esp also.

 

I use Mod Organizer.

I will let you know if that helps once I get get the opportunity to do as you suggest.

It also looks like my post combined my Skyrimprefs.ini and Skyrim.ini for some reason, so what is in the skyrim.ini when you click show is both of them.

As for random crashes... theres another part to the memory tweaks

Sometimes value max out and cause crashes.. Keeping an eye out for the values and adjust if necessary.

Oh a for inis

you need to find the MO ones since it doesn't use the ones in My GamesSkyrim

When I attempted to clean either Dawnguard.esm or Update.esm TESVEdit popped up an error as it closed saying it could not delete the original file. I also did the suggested Memory Blocks mod. After everything the crashes are still occurring.  Memory Blocks logs recorded my data usage reaching 246 and 149.

I have also found that my computer cannot seem to run enbs d3d9.dll. Skyrim crashes immediately at startup before the start menu. I haven't been using it because I could not make it work even updating direct x. Could this be the issue?

then increase the values for SSME but if you do then you need to set the expandmemory64 to false in enblocal or it'll crash on startup

 

try something like 768 or 1024 for the first value and 512 for the second in the skse.ini

 

EDIT: I think your problem is somewhere else... I am unsure

as for TES5 not being able to clean... It sounds like you have permissions problems (I hate windows permissions so much.)

Changing the values in SKSE let me pass the 256MB limit I was having trouble with, but it is still crashing. Is it because I can't get my pc to run enBoost's d3d9.dll without crashing at startup? I have been running S.T.E.P. without it. I am also now getting occasional CTDs during loading...

like I said, something is screwed up... You would have to screw with it for (a) hour(s) to find a solution... There are so many possibilities and I really do not want to type them. You seem to have an issue that is probably super simple but try:

disabling UAC 

     Yes, Yes we know  STEP does not recommend this but try it

remove custom graphics control profiles

re run the exes that are in the skyrim directory (VCRedist, DotNetFX, DirectX10)

try playing with all the values (enblocal, SKSE ini, etc)

    Some Mod is going to remind you to back up your stuff

reinstall graphics drivers

play with the TESV file properties/ compatibility section

reinstall the game (try a different location)

MO probably screwed something up (re start from ground zero)

reinstall windows

 

If it isn't one of these then you're going to need to dedicate time to try literally everything. Once, you figure it out come back and share.

 

In all honesty it'll probably take any higher ups and me a few minutes to find the solution but GL. I may add more later but it is unlikely.

The ssme log is perfectly fine no issues...

The reason for my last post is because you said something about TES5 not overwriting correctly and the Enb dll just not working and I became blind to that...

 

 

Hmm... after looking at the entire thing again... Remove Skybirds and skytest

ppl say those don't have issues but I know they do.

 

Edit: Just nitpicking but I would say create your own weather patches. Sometimes the two overlap and are not properly patched. 

     On a side note you probably want to leave out one sound record its in COT sound, solitude, solitude march ( its repetitive and very annoying) you'll understand once its removed

 

EDIT 2: A lot of users claim Enhanced blood can cause crashes and I would agree with them but I like it too much. To get to the bottom of the in game crashes leave it out. Im unsure of any special uninstall procedures.

      Remember everybodys PC is different, your results may vary.

 

EDIT 3: some say DSI is also to blame, I disagree.

 

EDIT 4: Just naming ones to take a closer look now. Locational damage (even apollo removed his version from DCO), BFS (no opinion)

 

EDIT 5: head tracking(no opinion)

I reinstalled MO and directly transferred the mod files from the old one into the new install and am having crashes much less often now for some reason. I will try out some of the other suggestions you have. I did notice though when I was playing earlier (now it takes anywhere between 5 - 30 minutes to crash) that some of the textures would change to black or purple in certain lighting. Would that be a mod incompatibility?

you're missing textures thats what the purple is... the black is one of the following:

mesh errors (I doubt this)

VRAM problems (I believe it this, thats why ENBoost exists)

Another unknown reason, meaning I have no idea...

 

hmm.... click the archives tab that next to the plugins and what do you see

which boxes are checked... list them and use aberrations or link a pic...

Everything is checked including the ones I had to check manually, those being HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, HighResTexturePack03.bsa, Brawl Bugs CE.bsa, and Unofficial High Resolution Patch.bsa
