skyrim lauuncher always detecting video hardware

nodata12

Question

whenever i launch skyrim it resets my ini file by detecting my video hardware. it really get's annoying that it does this all the time. it didn't do this before and i read somewhere it has to do with verifying the game cache. i followed the skyrim install guide and had a complete backup ready of my skyrim install including the HD DLC and dawnguard. i deleted the skyrim directory and replaced it with this backup. now it does this all the time. any clues?

It happened to me to..Version 1.7 that I'd backed up as a RAR a while ago. When I extracted it to my Steam archive, checked the cache via Steam and launched, it kept auto detecting. Sadly, I haven't found a fix for it. The Skyrim I'm running with Step now is one I downloaded again.

did you delete your ini's (RendererInfo.txt, skyrim.ini, and skyrimprefs.ini) and launch from steam to rebuild them?

Why are you using the launcher anyway? You should be launching from skse that will certainly solve the problem. Actually you should be launching skse from within Wrye Bash or Mod organizer :P

I didn't think that many people still launched it from Steam since we really push for the mod managers, but maybe it's worth making a note for in that section of the guide?  I wonder how many people use MO and try to launch from Steam as well.
