Trying to see where the STEP community sits on having a guide start to take shape for Fallout 4. There are already a decent amount of mods popping up to change little things like textures.

  • Rain
  • FO4 Moon
  • WET
  • FCO Eyes
  • Natural Eyes
  • Eyes of Beauty
  • Enhanced Blood Textures
  • Numerous Reshade profiles

A smaller guide could get started as things come along before the CK/GECK is released. At thing point I don't know if we can do a STEP-type guide without Mr. S4N putting the work to create the framework for the mod lists and mod pages. Not even sure if the staff would be willing to do it, but I'll ask anyways just to see what people want. Leave more suggestions if you have them. At this early point there is nothing on or off the table.

I'd certainly like to have us create a Fallout 4 guide. Like the Fallout 3 and Fallout NV guides I feel it should include some of the same kinds of mods as are included in these guides. The format used for many of the  guides on the STEP site other than the main Skyrim guide seems to be flexible enough to handle the mods that are useful as a base set of mods for the Fallout games. I'd prefer it were a group activity vs. a single guide author both because creating/maintaining a guide is a lot of work and also to get some diversity of opinion on what to include and how to evaluate the mods.

Yeah, doing a guide all on your own can be very demanding. Really burns me out too when I'm doing the main STEP stuff and then going on to F&L, then back again. Didn't expect that when I started it.

I was looking at some Boston based movie/books for a name and there are some really great ones, but I haven't played enough of the game to get a feel for which is right. The Departed, The Town, Mystic River, Boondock Saints, Moneyball, Good Will Hunting... that's just off the top of my head. I kinda like the movie theme for the Fallout guides too.

A few interesting films based in Boston per Wikipedia War of the Worlds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_Worlds_(2005_film) , Zombie in a Penguin Suit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_in_a_Penguin_Suit

Yeah, I found this list. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Films_set_in_Boston,_Massachusetts

Looks like there is tons of Boston stuff. Good Will Hunting is my go to Boston movie because I like to add a ton of quotes to the heading of each section and that movie has sooooooooooo many good ones.

"You f***in' retarded? You went all the way out there in the rain and you didn't bring the number?"

"Morgan! If you're watching pornos in my mom's room again, I'm gonna give you a ******* beating!"

"Hey, do you like apples? Well, I got her number.  How do like them apples?"

"You're legally allowed to drink now, so we figured the best thing for you was a car."

"Look, you're my best friend, so don't take this the wrong way but, in 20 years if you're still livin' here, comin' over to my house, watchin' the Patriots games, workin' construction, I'll f***in' kill ya. That's not a threat, that's a fact, I'll f***in' kill ya."

I love that movie. RIP Robin. :'(

We, as a team, have discussed expanding into other games. This would be the perfect opportunity; however, it would have to start out small in a Guide format like the other various Guides. The wiki is not ready to support STEP v3.0, much less expansion. It's sad really, because the community and staff is willing but we can't do to dev. We've been held up by wiki dev for over a year...which is a little long for any project, but there's nothing we can do about it. We rely on s4n for all that stuff and he's pretty much MIA most of the time. I'm hoping someone skilled enough will come along and help out, but that has yet to happen.

I am a system administrator have been for the last 15 years, code some too mainly declarative stuff but I know a little PHP, HTML, CSS and Javascript, I don't usually code in it though. If you have got a repository or even a tar or zip of the files and a list of things you want doing with it send them my way. I will see what I can do feature request and bug fix and send in pull requests to s4n for code review, approval and merging.
